'Towers,' 'Spider-Man' jam at MTV
Movie Awards also honor best virtual performance

"The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" and "Spider-Man" topped the list of noms for MTV's 2003 Movie Awards nabbing five nods a piece.
Ceremony's twelfth edition will salute advances in film technology with the addition of a new category: best virtual performance.

"Some of this year's best performances weren't even human, so we added the category to honor this new generation of performers," exec producer Joel Gallen said. Noms include Yoda in "Star Wars: Episode II," Gollum in "Lord of the Rings" and Dobby in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets."

Others nabbing multiple nods were "8 Mile," "Daredevil," "Austin Powers in Goldmember," "Barbershop" and "Jackass: The Movie."

Also, for the first time, Virgin Mobile subs will be able to vote via their cell phones. Under the company's deal with Viacom, Virgin already provides its mobile customers with MTV branded games, graphics and interactive polls on shows such as the cabler's "Total Request Live."

Tenth Planet Productions' Gallen and Salli Frattini will exec produce the kudocast. Bruce Gowers will direct and Michael Dempsey will co-produce.

Show, set to air June 5, will tape May 31 at the Shrine Auditorium.

I'm surprised by that too, Willow! I think that Legolas was the most interesting character in the Lord of The Rings! Orlando Bloom shoulda gotten nominated!!!

Even though it pains me to go against all that is Colin in saying this...no way. TTT will win. That scene in MR was so not that good...

Wow, I love the MTV Movie Awards! I want TTT to clean up! My most prominent choices though are Willem Dafoe for Best Villain (he was so cool and freaky!) and Helm's Deep for Action Sequence.. although, that scene in Final Destination 2 has made me afraid of highways for the rest of my life.. 😛

Best Female PerformanceHavn't seen hudson or witherspoons performance but the others weren't very good that I have seen so no comment! lol

Best Comedic Performance Johnny Knoxville - Jackass: The Movie Johnny is the lushest mn around but this has not influenced my opinion, I've seen this film 3 times in the cinema and I've laughed out loud every time, it completely rocks.

Best On-Screen Team Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O & Chris Pontious - Jackass: The Movie Gotta be the jackass boys.
