JollyApe told me in the Disney thread that "We are all musical fans it's just hard for some people to be honest about it."
Well I'm very honest about my obsession.. Are you?
Do you like musicals? Movie musicals or stage musicals? Which are your favourite and which don't you like..?

I'm a huge fan of movie musicals (though I like the stage ones I've seen too)..
My favourites are
Hair cause of the great songs and the story is so sad. I've always loved it.
Dancer in the Dark I love Björk and her music. Beautiful and unusual musical. (And I like Lars von Trier too..)
Nightmare Before Christmas Maybe it's doesn't count..? Don't know but it's great. I like Tim Burton a lot and this is one of his best movies.
O Brother Where Art Thou Cause it's wonderful music and the story is great. I listen to the music all the time..
8 femmes Great one.. Funny. I would love to do it as a play someday.. (Wouldn't really want to sing though..)

Then I also like Moulin Rouge, Sound of Music, Carabet and many others..

I LOVE musicals! I've actually co-starred in a few high school musicals in my day. Bye Bye Birdie, Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, and Zombie Prom. I also love Grease (all hail Grease!) and I sawAnnie Get Your Gun, Beauty and The Beast, and Chicago as well as The Boy From Oz on Broadway and they were all incredible!

I'm SO the musical geek-I know where to buy sheet music and stuff-I used to want to be on Broadway, back in my acting days.

eeeee *girly scream* I love Musicals. I adore Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Les Miserables (oh its just complete perfection), Cabaret, Anastasia, Annie ( of course), Chicago, Grease, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma, South Pacific, RENT (with a passion), The Producers, Phantom of the Opera (who doesnt?), Rocky Horror Picture Show, Little Shop of Horrors, Tick Tick Boom, and many more..... *stops her girly screaming*

Eeek Did I just admit to all of that?

I like musicals...Grease and Chicago were awesome..

Also I've seen Guys and Dolls, Grease, Beauty & the Beast, Riverdance and The Secret Garden live on Broadway...

That's so cool! Ok I'm rehearsing a school play right now in which there'll be a lot of music, but I won't have to sing by myself, which is safe for everyone cause my voice.. not so great, heh..

Can't believe I forgot Grease! Love it.

Good Luck. It's nervweracking. The absolute hardest kind of acting there exist. I lived out my dream and was Fantine from Les Mis........For God's sake, please stay till I am sleeping and tell Cosette I love her and I'll see her when I waaaaaaaaake...

That is.. wow, heh.. Ok I was obsessed with Les Mis (book/movies/musical) about four years ago. And I loved Fantine. (Though Eponine was my favourite, that's the reason for my name..) When/where did you play Fantine?

ROCKY HORROR!

Sorry, had to do that.

Saturday night was my school's semi-formal, and I was anticipating it to the max.

I got all deckout out in killer goth dress, hair, makeup, - the works. Anyway, twas a major disappointment for all the work. So towards the end of the dance, I went to the dj and requested Time Warp. My friend and I, being the only ones there who knew the blasted song, grooved center stage - reciting every lyric and performing every dance move. It rocked.

But yeah, musicals. They're cool.....😉

I love musicals in all forms. I used to play in the pit band of our high school musicals Fiddler of the Roof, City of Angels and the Mystery of Edwin Drood.

My favourite stage musicals are Miss Saigon and Les Miserables. I have also seen most of the others out there.

Beyond those I also love musical movies and Disney musicals. My favs in this department are Aladdin and Beaty and the Beast.

Musicals rule, I'm not shy about it either and I'm a 24 year old guy.

Aladdin! Oh, that's my favorite. I love every song that's there!

And Anatstasia! "Dancing bears, painted wings, things I almost remember....And a song, someone sings...Once upon a December..." I love it!

Aladdin rocks! It's coming on DVD tomorrow for the first time!!! I can't wait!
I LOVE MUSICALS! Moulin Rouge is one of my favorite movies and I love going to the theater. I'm a New Yorker so it's very convenient. Les Mis was great. I was lucky enough to see The Boy From Oz before it closed which I was in complete and total bliss being a huuuuuge Hugh Jackman fan. One show I didn't like however was Gypsy. I saw it about a year ago with Bernadett Peters, and she must have been sick or something because she just sounded terrible and it's also not my favorite story. Of course Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Rent, Stomp, Chicago(that was very good) etc.
I'm also dying to see Dracula, and the real theater buffs are thinking "Oh God not Frank Wildhorn(known for music in "Jekyll and Hyde" and "The Scarlett Pimpernel") again". Well the critics aren't his biggest fans, but i happen to like most of his songs. I'm also a devote Dracula fan, so i'm almost obligated to see it lol.
But nothing compares to The Phantom of the Opera. It is my absolute favorite, the music, the story. Oh that was so great. I can't wait to see the movie in December, I hear that they did a very good job with it and that it's getting great reviews.

No one loves my dear Fantine...ahh well. I played her in college a few years back. It was great fun. I adored evey minute on it. I am beyond obssessed with Les Mis the musical. Every song just means so much to me. I'll stop talking now or else I'll keep going on and on and on.

Growing up my faves were always Annie, Oliver and The Sound of Music. I feel sorry for my parents having to put up with me playing them all the time and singing along. My mum was gonna throw out my copy of Moulin Rouge I played it so much, but hey it had my man Ewan in it 😉

Oh, it's ages since we did this. I love the old film musicals like Singing in the Rain, Disney stuff like Jungle Book and Rocky Horror. Not much of a fan of stage musicals but that's probably because I've never been to one (except Rocky Horror) but come on, Andrew Lloyd-Webber has to be the antichrist 🙂 Someone once mentioned to me that the South Park movie was a good musical (albeit a bit sweary🙂) and I had to agree, although I'd never thought of it in those terms before...

I know I was like that too, but my Buffy obsession kinda made all the other ones seem.. less important? That sounds wrong cause I still love Les Mis a lot. I do love Fantine, it's just her story is so sad (like Eponine's isn't).. Aww, Fantine used to be my favourite until I saw the French tv series (with Gerard Depardieu as Jean Valjean), then I fell in love with Eponine..
(Kinda jealou of you now.. heh.)
I saw the musical some years ago in London, loved it.. It was one of my best theatre experiences (probably the best)..

Ah the Jungle Book thanks for that one Mr P completely forgot about that, who didn't go around singing the Bear Necessities after watching it 😀

I don't really watch musicals...

Except Grease and Grease 2! :vpleased: Those were musicals, and they were weird...

The South Park makers had produced a musical before they started with South Park. It was called "Cannibal". It's really funny but they are very musically talented. 😉

Anyway, I love musicals. And although Andrew Lloyd Webber in the antichrist, I love his musicals. "Cats" is my favourite... Mike took me to see it for my birthday this year. Amasing! Loved it.

Also have to say that Gilbert and Sullivan musicals such as HMS Pinifore have a place in my heart as well.
