Musk tries to pull out of his promise to buy Twitter

He organised to buy Twitter, now he wants out of the agreement he wanted and it might even cost him $1 billion.
 
He has been off and on with this deal ever since he started it. It seems like every other week he threatens to pull out of the deal.

He likely is only sticking with it now because his bizarre internet fanclub will turn start to on him if he drops out of a deal they want him to do. He has this weird obsession with being liked by people online
 
The strange thing to me is that Twitter wasn't that thrilled about his takeover in the first place. But I guess they're now committed to it. He has acted pretty flaky about it.

Maybe those on Twitter had mixed feelings, but the board were none too dismayed by the offer. And they sure as heck want that promised cash now!
He is trying to use the excuse that Twitter said there were no more than 5% bots registered on Twitter whereas he says there are around 20% and he claims he was deliberately misled and that this should absolve him of needing to pay the $billion poison pill for pulling out of the deal. Fat chance this is going to go his way. He is responsible for doing his due diligence of checking what the company is worth and what it owes and what legal actions may exist against it. Twitter is not worth what he agreed to pay, so I expect this to go to litigation.
 
Is Musk wrong to want the accurate information regarding twitter bots though? If he's going to purchase it, he has a right to know as does the public to be honest.

The pundits are saying though that it's a flimsy excuse, a pretext really, for backing out.
It's a hostile takeover that went tits up . Mush steamrollered a deal , then tried to change the terms when the market broke against him . All that talk about 'bots' is just bullcrap , looking for leverage to lower the price or welch on his cancellation fee . You can't buy something that isn't for sale and then complain about being misled by the seller , no matter how much millionaire glitter you sprinkle on it .

The problem is that he didn't ask for this information when they inked the deal. It was a bit later when he asked about bots that they gave him the 5% number. General consensus seems to be that he should have done his research FIRST.

I doubt it was a 100% closed case / inked deal. He's more than likely within his legal rights to withdraw. And why shouldn't he? If twitter is filled with FAKE accounts, the censorious people behind the platform obviously have an agenda/ulterior motives regarding public perception and they should be outed.

I think this whole thing was done on a whim, the purchase bit and everything else.
 
The bizarre bit to me , is Musk is one of the few big money right wingers that actually has the skillset and nous to build a social network from scratch . He could steamroller Truth Social and all the others in a week ...and actually give Twitter and co some competition . It's not like there aren't cracks in the social media giants anyway . What would it cost him , half a billion ? If that . We ve all seen vast acreages of valuable digital real estate crumble . Why put 44 bill into something that could be a ghost town overnight , for no particular reason ?

This is the correct answer. Musk figured he’d put out a bid to buy Twitter because why not and they actually want to sell it. He’s done this kind of “because I can” type stuff before. Case in point, the flamethrower that was designed and sold by his Boring (as in boring holes for roadways) Company.

I think at this point he is trying to weasel out of the deal, and I don’t really blame him. Twitter is a cesspool of bots, idiotic behavior, and agenda-pushing. Everyone on that site has one of three things: something to sell you/indoctrinate you into, a need to be liked and to display how many likes they’ve gotten, or an algorithm that tells them how to act. The whole thing would need hefty resources put into it in order to become a usable platform
 
Can I sue Elon Musk for annoying me? Just so sick of seeing his face in the news. That counts as pain & suffering, right? 🤔
What sort of name is Elon anyway? Was it supposed to be Elton? Maybe there was a typo on his birth certificate & his parents were just lazy?

If you think that’s bad though, I dare you to look up some of his children. He may as well have typed some of those names in wingdings
