Because the media never reports all of the things that Muslims are doing to fight ISIS, or the fact that most of the victims of ISIS are Muslim. Long article - listing major figures in the Islamic religion who are fighting against terrorism, and who have been threatened with death but they refuse to back down.

Imam Suhaib Webb, a Muslim leader in Washington, has held live monthly video chats to refute the religious claims of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL. In a dig at the extremists, he broadcast from ice cream parlors and called his talks “ISIS and ice cream.”

Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, an American Muslim scholar based in Berkeley, Calif., has pleaded with Muslims not to be deceived by the “stupid young boys” of the Islamic State. Millions have watched excerpts from his sermon titled “The Crisis of ISIS,” in which he wept as he asked God not to blame other Muslims “for what these fools amongst us do.”

Muslims in the middle east are fighting ISIS - Saudi Arabia executed 47 terrorists and have stopped so many terrorist attacks on "mosques" of all places. One terrorist attack was about to blow a whole neighborhood in Riyadh but was stopped by the Saudi police.

Middle Eastern countries are doing their best to stop ISIS but of course, western news never mentions it.

Saudi actor Nasser Al-Qasabi did four episodes in his hit TV show Selfie which aired last Ramadan mocking ISIS and showing the world what ISIS is all about. A two episodes story is about a father flying to Syria searching for his son who joined ISIS. The father pretends to be a member in ISIS in hopes he can convince his son to go back home. The story ends in the tragedy of the father being executed by his own son.

Now traveling over the sea of Arabic written news about all the terrorism acts done in Muslim countries in the Middle East like Kuwait, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, I'm saddened that none of the west know about them because no one bothered to report them.

Saudi Arabia stopping three terrorist attacks in a matter of two weeks (93 members of Isis, among them one woman, and only 15 Saudis, and the Islamic dates show that it happened in 2015. The news were reported in the 28th of April, 2015)

Muslims are, and always have been, the ones getting hurt the most by ISIS. Both physically through war, and also by ISIS damaging their religion. North America is just too self centered and racist to realize that the few terrorist attacks we've had amount to nothing compared to what many Middle Eastern countries have to face. My heart truly goes out to Muslims.

Personally, while there's obviously a lot of bad too, I feel like I read good stuff about Muslims/Muslim countries fighting or resisting ISIS all the time. Not in the more sensational evening newspaper perhaps, who rely on selling a lot of issues and go for whatever grabs the eyes, but public radio and more 'serious' newspapers do a lot of beneficial reports. So I wouldn't say the west never mentions it. But I can certainly wish they would bring more attention to terrorist attacks in the Middle Eastern area.

As for the article, good for the Imams, good work, who can defend the faith but them really? I've read of devoted british imams doing the very same.

Saudi Arabia exports a huge amount of terrorism, is largely misogynistic and has massive racism so I'm unsurprised the media is going to focus on their struggles. It's a religiously extremist nation. It's little surprise a state which breeds fanaticism ends up getting some which disagree with it.

Other Middle-Eastern countries which are attacked are reported about. The most prominent one I recall being where a man intercepted a suicide bomber causing him to detonate the explosives early. Killed the man who intervened but saved a lot of lives. On the other hand the more attacks a nation suffers the less "newsworthy" it tends to become.

I feel like the media is going to under-report anything that Saudi Arabia does against terrorism because the "story" right now is that they may have sponsored the 9/11 attacks in the US. There isn't such a thing here as fair and unbiased reporting.

This is unfortunately false. The ones getting hurt the most were Yazidi people, who don't believe in Islam. They got directly mass murdered and forced as sex slaves by ISIS.

ISIS's reign over muslims was not so bad in general. They are not any crueler than countless 20th century dictators. Their terrorism is not any more severe than countless communism guerillas. They are definitely less bloodthirsty than "third-world revolution heroes" such as Che Guevara.

It's a much much less threat than what the civilized world had faced in the 20th century. People are just becoming softer and more sensitive after an unnaturally long world semi-peace after WWII.

I am aware of the Yazdi, and I have friends who are Ba'hhai. We've also been getting Christian relatives out of Lebanon. The fact is that ISIS fights for religious purity - they blow up mosques, and commit mass killings in the name of religious purity, and that purity includes anyone with any positive relationship to the modern world.

I don't think so. If their financial status continues to worsen, I'll predict that most of them would betray their organization and surrender, instead of eating their own.

Can you use this statistics to argue that it's non-Jews who were the main victims of Nazis? I can't.

I don't think anyone has ever tried that - just that 2/3 of the worlds Jewish population died in concentration camps - out of 11 million victims,6 million were Jews.

If you need a visual, look at all the people who have died in Syria - mostly Muslim. In all the Muslim countries - and i am talking about the Philippines, Pakistan, India, any country with a large population of Muslims, the Daesh have targeted any Muslim who is not a member of their death cult.

That doesn't count toward the 20+million soviets, etc.

Completely agree - and this is all fallout from WWI. The west destroyed the Ottoman Empire, and they see themselves as the empire strikes back.
