first, i'm not sure if this belongs here or in the spoilers thread, but honestly i don't dare entering that board, i know i'll be to curious and i'll ruin a couple of episodes. if it belongs there, change it or something.

First, i have the feeling that we will get an "amends" explanation soon, maybe the since then the balance was broken. I had the feeling that the first was trying to make angel his minion then by killing buffy. and maybe he already sensed faith's evilness and thought that was a good time to kill the other slayerettes knowing she wouldn't stop her. but angel didn't kill her.

so i think the first waited, and now it's even better. Faith is in jail which means she won't be killed, she won't be in his way for awhile. and the slayer who doesn't matter if she actually dies is the one defending the world. so if she is killed, there won't be another slayer, but they would call faith (i think that's why the first keeps saying don't kill her yet like in sleeper, or in showtime)

so my guess is, it is not buffy's resurrection, it is more likely the entire faith/jail buffy/not THE slayer situation anyway i'm pretty sure i could be proved wrong in a couple weeks.

I can now
Faith will return and her first scene on Angel will be her in jail being attacked by the Bringers
sorry!

damn!

but i didn't read your spoiler, i don't want to be SPOILED!!! i shouldn't come here, this place corrupts my fragile little mind 🙂

how can people armed with hand to hand weapons break into a maximum security prison...impossible...half the inmates are armed...so whoever going try to get faith is going to have a hell of a time

The First Evil no doubt has agents in place with more powers than the harbingers. And that shape-shifting thing could be handy, too: morph into some dead person from Sunnydale in a guard's or inmate's uniform and cause major distractions...

faith

i thnk i read somewhere else on the board that it might be the fact that when faith became evil that it upset everything as the slayers are there to stop evil not help it. Or it could be when Faith and Buffy switched bodies that time.

but Faith became evil seasons ago.... and she's redeeming herself. I don't see how thigns that happened so long ago are affecting it all now. Why didn't the First come before this?

We havent seen Faith since S4 of Buffy/S1 of Angel(Except for that one episode where he visited her in prison) who knows what things we have not been told has happened?

Not just with Faith, but with almost any single explanation for a "disturbance" the FE is "taking advantage of", the FE has spent a minimum of several months (e.g., summer), at least, to... what? Gather enough forces? Let a power vacuum or black hole created in the forces of Good get large enough of its own volition to be useful? Wait for the stars to align?

I'm not sure the time factor is going to be very helpful in figuring out the cause of the FE's breakout...

On its eternal life I don't think it has a very tight time-scheme! However if it waits to long, the opurtunity might vanish, so it still has to work, and the other hand if it would have striked soon, it would have taken them by surprise, why not directly after Willow went to England? It has tremendous force and why would it waste time on Spike, while it could have taken out the SITs and their Watcher by surprise. It just would have to have its troops ready to strike ... time may be a factor indeed! ... or maybe the Spike getting his soul was crucial ... If time isn't a factor, I think the First is just plain dumb, it wastes too much time on tiny pions, while it should strike at full force immediatly!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, in what episode did Angel visit Faith in prison? Last I ever saw of Faith was when she had just given herself up, when did he visit her?

He visited her in 2.01 "Judgement", but only in the last two minutes or so, not something really big!

how is blowing up the watcher's counsel and coordinating simultaneous attacks around the globe not striking at full force...

The First is certainly acting quickly in that regard - which makes it all the more strange that it has waited so long to do that, assuming that the explanation is something that has happened in past seasons.

Hence my thought that there might have been a gradual buildup of the "disruption" the First is taking advantage of -- e.g., it had to get strong enough to be useful. *Then* the FE could *move*.

However, under this scenario, we don't know how long the FE had to wait, or which act in which season triggered the disruption...

Again, just my thoughts.

Who said something about seasons? ... Maybe this is something predating the series, though probably not!

By season is just one of many ways to trace events and patterns. No big deal.

Something predating the series? I agree with your "probably not", but if they could pull it off anywhere, it would be in Whedon-world.

Here is another theory I just cooked up 😛

In the episode 4x21: Primeval we see the spirit of the first slayer being inserted into Buffy BUT we never see it actually leave. In 4x22 it tries to kill them because of its primitive nature but yet it remains in Buffy maybe causing a disturbance laying in wait.

When in 5x22 Buffy died and was resurrected again the spirit of the first slayer was released and seized to exist. So maybe this spirit was previously in Faith, as the "slayers gift" that is supposed to be transfered. But now that Buffy took it over it caused a disturbance since she is not supposed to have it. And when she died the spirit had no new home to go too and was instead beginning to fade slowly(dieing). And then suddenly in Season 7 the spirit of the first slayer had faded so much it was time for the first evil to make its move and wipe out the slayer line once and for all.

That one makes some sense, not a lot, some details need to be worked out a little better, but nevertheless, this sounds very reasonable!
