My Abbs is 13 soon! Soo....

I remember mine but it wasn’t very exciting😂 I definitely think that year 8 (12-13) can be a very exciting/tumultuous time. I hope your daughter enjoys her birthday!

13 was very tumultuous for me, so I wish the absolute opposite of your daughter. Also, I put my mother through hell, so, y'know...good luck?

I had friends who put me down constantly then and I hated myself. I’m happier now than I ever have been at 17. Although, I did go and see Jurassic World and I did love it, but the rest of my birthday was awful.

@Nix I said pet, I said love I said pet, I said Nixxy,
hmm sounds like someone you expect to find at the end of the garden playing with the Fairy's and the Pixie's. Yep Nix has been sniffing the empty bottle of Bailey's again!
No,
I can't remember mine, and don't want to it was a horrible time. But I do remember when my daughter became 13 and that was 17 years ago. I told her the importance of having a quality education, to study and do well in school, I even taught her how to remember effectively, in a way she'd understand.
Poor thing, as she spent most of her time at school and in the evenings studying (much better than chasing boys). She is planning on going back to university to do her Masters in Neurosciences soon.

So Nix, start saving for her future educational needs.

Yes I'm saving, she has already mapped out University as a goal.

I don't remember my 13th. I do remember on my 14th I had a caterpillar cake but that's about it. I hope she has a good time!

13-15 was a rough time for moi! 😩Between figuring myself out (sexually/socially/etc), being ill, in & out of hospitals, throw in middle school and it was just ball of fun.😒

13 was arguably one of the worst years of my entire life and I remember it all too well (though I did experience an odd amnesia, a true psychological phenomenon that most have only read about but I actually experienced, though the amnesia was mostly when I was 14 rather than 13, but the events my mind repressed happened when I was 13).

Still, we all have very different experiences and it doesn't have to be traumatic, and some people can have their fondest memories around that time of their life (my 14th birthday, one of the very rare birthdays I ever experienced celebrated in my childhood, is one of the memories I most treasure).

I remember my 13th, not a good year for me, Junior High really sucked...

@Nix I hope your daughter has a good 13th.

You must be very proud of your daughter 🙂

The best news about this is you can get Bailey's Irish Cream in a 750 mL bottle and there are factories in Dublin and Mallusk, not that far away from you. I would recommend Bailey's intravenously until Abbs reaches the age of 20 years. Other than that, wish her a happy birthday from me and remember, the favourite flavour of birthday cake for this age is valium cake.

Oh 13, when my mother broke my heart by telling me she was pregnant with my step-dad who was an awful human being. Which of course ended up in me meeting the love of my life (in a non creepy way guys!) once my baby brother was born. He's still my favorite person, even if he's a bit of a dolt at times 😉

I also remember thinking it was super embarrassing that my mother was pregnant, because she was ancient, and ancient people don't get pregnant, because gross.

Now I know what my older sister thought of us two lil ones!
I don't remember being 13. My early teens were really boring, because I come from such a small and secluded place. I don't think I really became a teenager until I got older and got hold of some money, a bus pass and my older friends started getting driver's licenses.

But I work with 13 year olds, and I think they are much better than their reputation. You need to be patient with them sometimes and listen to all their nonsense, but they're mostly good kids. They kinda remind me about Anya. They don't know that much about the world, but they are inquisitive and critical. They make you think about stuff again.

This explains much about you! :)
What was yours like nix?

My birthday was always in school holidays. I rarely had parties, much to my fathers disgust because my stepsister (of the same age) had them all the time. He thought I was so lame, so they let her have a party. I remember the 13 year old school holiday as the first time a really drunk teen boy from my step sisters party climbed into my top bunk bed and passed out on me. I was terrerfied cos he was a heavy hairy italian, but I managed to untrap myself and crawl into my 10 year old sisters bunk below willing to kick anyone who tried it with her. Funny how the anger kicks in when I am defending someone other than myself... I stayed awake til my parents returned to the house, then faked sleep lol.

Anyway, I was a great teen, barely any trouble til I hit 18 😉 i think all the team sport/activities kept me out of trouble (I still struggle without that stimulation.)

Happy birthday Abs!

My 13th? Wow, I don't think my memory goes back that far......

I think man had discovered fire by then so I probably had some kind of hootenanny around the campfire outside our roundhouse.....

Probably had a couple of games of 'Pin the tail on the Mammoth' before taking a trip to see the new Henge they were building over Salisbury way...… 🦴🦖🦕

Seriously though.....Hope Abbs has a great Birthday (And you get to finish off the cake 😉 )
