well iv finaly done some banners , not exatly all buffy but im goin to 🙂
this is my first attmept.... 🙂

Good work MK! I did find the white space quite distracting, and although it's improved in the second post, it's a little hard to make out everything because of the size. The banners themselves are good though, I especially like the Willow/Tara one and the border around it. So work on cropping a bit, and more importantly KEEP IT UP! Hope to see more soon! 🙂

Again, like the Star Wars banner, and the new "powerful magic" one's really awesome too! Lots of Tara/Willow lovin' lately, and again, border is awesome (so jealous! lol). Good job! Can't wait to see more 🙂

Cool new one MK, I really like the layout of the pictures, how the ones on either side kind of "match up" with the scene they're from. Although I may have personally placed the caption a bit more to the right, the idea is still really nice. (Willow/Tara, yay! :yay: )

As for advice, it would depend on what program you're using. If you want any general advice on banners, or have specific questions I'd be happy to help out as much as I can (just a pm away). Other than that, tutorials are great for learning new things, and posting specific questions on your art thread (preferably with more stuff *wink wink, nudge nudge*😉) is usually a pretty good way to get some help.

So keep it up, and don't be afraid to try new things with your banners!

edit: if you are using Paint Shop Pro/Photoshop, remember there's a thread for tips and tricks on the main art area too

A good tip is, if you are using screencaps, try to use images from the same scene, or that have a similar background or tone to them - this makes it easier to blend in when you are first starting out, as you can use the backgorund of them to blend the images into one another - or if you are using photoshoot images, try and get ones from the same shoot as well.

Once you become accompished at blending, you can then use images from different things, as you will find it alot easier to blend the images together.

Also, a tip on blending - if you can zoom in and reduce your brush size, you can get right up to the edge of the image, if you need to erase background. Some people prefer masking, but I tend to mask only so far, and then manually use a brush to get rid of the last bit.......

Even the most simplest of banners can look stylish if there is flawless blending! And of course, practice, practice practice 'lol' 🙂

not a fan of blending myself, but when i do i use the technique you described as well...it works the best i think...
