I thought I had posted about this here, but I guess I did not. So here goes.

I decided that I wanted to make myself a replica of the Bronze bar sign. This is the sign that hung over the entrance to The Bronze for most of the seasons of BTVS. For years I have wanted to make one of these to hang over a bar in my basement, but for many reasons (mainly never getting around to building the bar in my basement) I never did it. Well, now I have, and I must say I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. I did my best to figure out the size and construction using only screen shots from the show. I tried searching for others who have made this for pointers, but came up empty handed. Could I really be the only person that has tried to do this?? At any rate, I believe it is extremely close to the original in size and construction, but with some lighting upgrades. It is also fairly large! It is about 4 feet long, 1 foot tall, and 8 inches thick and weighs in at just under 30 lbs! The heavy duty chain that is used to hang it is major overkill, but needed to give it that rugged industrial look that the original sign had.

As mentioned before, I did do some lighting upgrades. The lighting is where the original sign was lacking big time! I decided to use LED lighting for a few reasons. It is brighter and weighs next to nothing when compared to traditional lighting set-ups. Seeing as the sign is no light weight to begin with, anywhere I can save weight is a plus! The LED lighting I chose comes with a wireless remote that allows the sign to be lit like the original or with my choice of 16 different colors. These lights can also be set it to strobe different colors, or even fade between them all (my personal favorite)!

Check out the pics and let me know what you think.

Thanks guys! I love just hanging out, working on the Buffy pinball, with this thing on in the background. It gets me in the slayer mood. 🙂

Thanks Guys! I am very proud of it. Outside of the Buffy pinball machine I am building this is the coolest Buffy related thing I have owned.
