My Feelings On "Chosen"

I finally finished Season 7 today.

I cried watching "Chosen". It is the most beautiful and perfect ending to a TV series I've ever seen. Joss is truly a master of writing.

I knew going into the episode that "This is the final epsiode. No more seeing episodes I haven't seen, no more being surprised at the show, no more not knowing." Part of me was sad, part of me was happy, and part of me didn't know how to feel. I've devoted two solid years of my life to watching the show, so I guess I was emotional at knowing that my favorite show was at its end, and there was never going to be another episode made. Granted, the comics are still there, the amount of fanfics grows every hour, and there's always the endless amount of rewatch value, but I think you get my point.

Angel showing up only added to the entire episode as well. The entire time I was watching he and Buffy on screen talking about how they someday want to have that relationship was perfect as well. The entire time, I kept thinking back to when we first saw him in "Welcome To The Hellmouth". They really came full circle. And when he smiled while walking away, telling her "I ain't getting any older", it made me smile. Despite everything they went through, they still loved each other.

The final battle was everything I expected it to be. The climatic final battle between good and evil. The way Buffy, Faith, and the Potentials all stood up to the First's army was the best way to end the series, showing that it truly is "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."

Sarah's acting is truly awe-inspiring. Her acting towards the end where she was stabbed by the Uber-vamp and stood up to the First despite the wound she had recieved was amazing. After 7 years, she had truly become the character. That can be said for everyone else on the cast as well, for they deserve recognition as well. Alyson's performance as Willow was great as usual, and it felt good to see Eliza as Faith back on the show for the final end. I'd keep going with how much everyone's acting impressed me, but it would take too long to put it all down in text.

I don't know of any show that has made me feel like this before. I had never cried at a TV show before I watched Buffy, I had never truly been into a show before I watched Buffy, and I honestly don't think they'll ever be another show that makes me feel the way I do about this one.

The first time I watched Chosen, I remember planning a big thing out of it- although it was 2011 and on DVD. I was too busy thinking ''this is the last episode of Buffy that I'll ever see for the first time. Unless, if that counts me finishing I Robot... you jane'' Moments such as Anya dying, Andrew crying at the end, Buffy slicing up Caleb, Angel appearing... were fantastic, imo. The battle was quite massive and large in scope 🙂

Definately one of the highlights in season 7.

I really liked "Chosen". There are a lot of flaws with it when you analyze it a bit, but on the surface, when you consider the scope of the series and how it all ends, particularly from a character standpoint, it's excellent.

The highlight for me, like you said, was the wrap up with Angel and Buffy. I thought it was resolved as well it possibly could be. They did justice to the characters, the relationship and the fans who really care about it without detracting from Spike, who was the show's leading man for years at that point. I thought that was really well done, and it exemplified the whole "forever" theme that has always been Buffy and Angel.

The final battle was awesome. Having Faith there just made it better. And of course, Spike absolutely rocked "Chosen". His final scene with Buffy and the way he goes out is one of the coolest, most powerful parts of the entire series, and it captures everything that is cool about Spike in one moment. And like how they wrapped up Buffy and Angel beautifully, I thought that was the perfect ending to Buffy and Spike as well.

The final shot, even though it doesn't include Angel and Spike, was awesome. I thought they had the perfect sense of it by including Dawn and Faith as well.

Have you seen the last season of Angel? Because if you liked "Chosen", "Not Fade Away" is even better. My favorite finale ever.
