My friend's reaction to The Body

I just thought I'd share this with you guys... I'm wondering if anyone else made this connection.
So I'm watching with a friend who is watching Buffy for the first time. We get to the part at the beginning of The Body when Buffy's just saying "mom, mom, mom, mom, MOM" over and over again trying to get her to respond before she goes to call 911. My friend started CRACKING up. She paused it so she could laugh... I couldn't understand why she was laughing so hard... then she quoted that clip from Family Guy where Stewie is trying to get Lois' attention and she's like "WHAT" after 20 "mum's" and he's like "hi" and runs off... I will never watch the Body and not think of that again.
Anyone else made that joke? I'm sure my friend's not the first....

ahahahaha, oh man, I know I should feel bad about laughing at this, but dear lord, that's actually kinda hilarious. Your friend has a twisted sense of humor and I can't help but applaud her for it! 🙂
 
Oh My God lmao I've never thought of that!!! Stewies gonna ruin The Body forever lol. I love that Family Guy clip, Damn you stewie. I'm on a rewatch now and when I get to The Body I'll see if this affects how I see the scene lol. That must have seriously shocked you when she started cracking up.
 
I've never made that connection. Love the Stewie scene but I doubt I'll think of it when I watch The Body. But I can't know for sure until I've watched it again.

Me too! I had never made the connection before. But I sooo relate to that clip (the Family Guy one)...there are days when I just want to change my name. If I have to hear the word "Mama!" just one more time I'm running away for good!

it did shock me. I was like "what are you laughing at?! Her mother's dead! What is wrong with you?!"

It doesn't ruin The Body for me... it actually makes it more enjoyable. It takes a really dark episode I almost can't stand watching because the thought of losing my own mother someday basically kills me, and makes it a little more bearable.

I never watched "The Family Guy," so I never saw that scene as anything but tragic. However, I have a friend who had the same reaction to the scene from "Smashed" when Buffy and Spike crash through the floor and wind up in the basement without ever slowing down. I laugh now whenever I see that scene.

Please Please someone make a spoof where Joyce gets up and shouts "What!!" lol 😛
 
Wow I love that moment in Family Guy but I would never have connected those two scenes on my own. And I'm quite glad for that.
 
I'm one of those people who tend to laugh at stuff that shouldn't be funny. It happened a few times with Buffy, never the body though, even with Stewie in my head now. 😀 Momma.

." Willow's a junkie" line always cracks me up - I don't know why.
. Buffy and Spike falling through the floor is one too - but that's just funny. 😀
. The episode with Gwendolyn Post, where Xander tries to stop Buffy and Faith fighting and get's thrown aside. I laugh, I shouldn't but I do.
. Also in emotional moments Angel used to this "blinking" thing. I'm probably the only one who noticed but there's was some lip biting and must-not-laugh stuff going on from me.
 
To be honest, that joke never came up to my mind while watching The Body. My mind is always ocupied with something different, that I can't think if anything funny in that moment.
 
I never made the connection. And to be honest now that the connection has been made, I still don't think it will affect the way I watch. Joyce's death was something serious. I always brings me to tears....however....it still is pretty funny that your friend made the connection lol
