I'am a fan of this universe. Usually, people generally read the books and then saw the movies, I first discovered the movies and it was only recently that I began to read the books. I am currently in volume 5 .. and I am also registered on Pottermore 😉. I don't have all the books, I miss the last two 🙁. And I read the books in french, I think that for the first time, I should read them in my langage..

I love the french covers. Really beautiful! When I read HP for the first time I did so in Dutch...the books were much more childish in the translation. So when I read them in English when I was a bit older it was a huge shock for me and now I will never read them in Dutch again...

I hate my own pictures lol .. They are too big and blurry lol .. Those are better (I took them from google images)

I'm probably one of the biggest HP fan on here, I love HP! (ask @Fuffy Baith, been trying to get her to read them).

I did read them all in French when I was young, and then I went back and read them in English later on. You do lose some of the dialect with the translation, most notable was Hagrid's dialogue changes. But overall the French translations were pretty good.

Which house are you on Pottermore?

Which are your favourite characters?

Hufflepuff 😉 In french it's "poufsouffle" no ? My patronus is a white Mare 🙂.

Which are your favourite characters?
Rogue ! He is complex, deep and I love his story..
I also love Lupin..
Profesor McGonagall, plus Maggie Smith is a wonderful actress, very talented..
And of course the trio with Ron, Harry and Hermione..
Dumbledore of course... And syrius... And Bellatrix, she is mean, but she is strangely attractive.

@Fuffy Baith you need to read this books 🙂

@Blaze I will get to them eventually! Maybe when you read the Percy Jackson books 😉 lol
@Antho Yes I know. I recently discovered that I can get them as ebooks for free on Kindle with my Amazon Prime membership. I have to finish the Maze Runner series first, then I told Blaze I might give HP a shot. lol. I do love the movies though. I've seen 5 of them in theatres. I use to have a crush on Harry as a teen. lol. I need to do a rewatch of all the movies first.

Those covers look pretty neat!
I have the German hardcovers, except for the Deathly Hallows one. I have the English version of that.

Yes poufsouffle! I love the French name! I'm a serpentard. And my patronus is a grey mare 😛

Snape (Rogue) is also one of my favourite characters! I see a lot of hate for his character, but I love his story.

Ah et bien c'est cool, je suis content de savoir qu'il y a quelqu'un d'autre que moi qui comprend et parle le français ici 😉..

Parlez-vous anglais? :p
I am curious about hufflepuff being poufsouffle in French, does that mean that Clara borrowed the Tardis and went to Hogwarts, because she is the soufflé girl.

PS what happened to The Philosophers Stone?

Oh, I was wondering who Rogue was a few posts up.

Je ne parle pas français tres bien, mais je peux le lire et voudrais lire Harry Potter en français. 🙂

I do really like Harry Potter, I remember getting into it in like high school or junior high. I thought it was a laaaame kid's book, but my friend was all "read it, read it!" and I was hooked. Then I had Swedish editions, they were so pretty

(not my picture)

sadly I don't have those anymore, I had a "couch surfing" phase in my 20s and basically lived out of a suitcase for a couple of years. The books were just too big.
Now I have the English pocket editions, one with what I think is supposed to be an "adult cover", but would love to get the French ones too.

Damn man, be cool. Don't get them asking about it... *points to Black Thorn vaults*

You speak very well the french :)
Cool 😉 I wish you a good read. If you have a problem with a passage that you don't understand, I will be happy to help you 🙂

Awww ... Harry Potter. I adore the books, almost as much as I adore the fantasy books of my childhood. I read them in English first, then started reading them out loud in Norwegian to my eldest. We're on a hiatus now, as he went on strike when he learned that Sirius would die a few chapters later. (Yes, I did alert him to that. He would never have forgiven me if I knew and didn't tell.)

I've only seen the movies. 😳 As for houses, I've always been torn between Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw. 😛

A friend of mine got me a Slytherin pin. I belong either there or Ravenclaw. Ravenclaw for my nerdiness. Slytherin for my vanity and dubious sense of morals.

I recently took the Pottermore tests and scored as Ravenclaw, which is what I'm sure I'd be sorted into anyway (that said, my favorite character is Tonks, a Hufflepuff). But it gave me a king cobra for a patronus which made me wonder what the reasoning was for that. I actually do like snakes in general, but king cobras give me the willies.

I used to have all the books, and then I let a 'friend' borrow them and she still to this day claims they're not my copies she's got and that she bought them herself 🙄 I never got round to re-buying them all. Sad part was I let her have them before I'd read some of them. My stupid mistake I guess.

The foreign covers are so stunning though - I wish I could read French or Swedish!
