Salutations.

Coming here made me feel like popping in as a new user to see what the fuss is about. I've been desperately trying to find online social places without a creepy algorithm that fixates on trendy things. This place feels refreshing, though.

You can consider me an organized mess. I'm still trying to figure out this crazy world. But I know my interests are music, art, swimming in the ocean, books, and finding eco-friendly ways of improving technologies. 🤓

I'm tired, boss. Time for me to sleep after writing this self-introduction post.

Welcome! You'll fit right in here 🙂 happy to have you on board. Feel free to post in any thread, even if they are old. Looking forward to reading your thoughts on the show and beyond.

Welcome to the forum! This is one of the most intelligent and civilized place on the net and definitely the best fan forum I have been on. Where are you located? There is a lot of ocean in the world.

As for eco-friendly technology, I worked at a company that made inverters for solar arrays and fuel cells, so I know the business from that standpoint.

United States is my location. But I wish to be in Spain.

Before you posted on this thread, I saw your profile page mentioned electrical engineer as an occupation in the About section. I saw that out of curiosity for your radio collection since music technology interests me.

Welcome to the group! Are you a new or longtime Buffy fan? Any favorite seasons or characters?
Thanks.

I'm a fan of Joss Whedon's creative works in Firefly, Dollhouse, Angel, and some of Buffy the Vampire Slayer since the 2000's.

My favorite season for Buffy the Vampire Slayer is season 3. Season 5 is my favorite for Angel.

Amen to that. I’ve more or less cut myself off from all other socials or online platforms aside from YouTube just because it’s all so dreadful nowadays.

At least the BB are still rad 😎

Many greets OceanicChic.

So, you have deemed to include us in your wanton understandings on the world, that is while trying to answer November's difficult question from post #2 requesting your thoughts on the knowledge of the beyond. My commiserations to you.
We usually reserve the difficult questions until you have been here awhile, consequently, what are you doing tomorrow tee hee.

I was wondering if you are male or female because of your username being OceanicChic, or maybe the Chic is to do with clothing. Oh the question about my requesting info regarding you being male or female should be ignored, that is for you to know and you alone.

Many greets from us in Australia, as regarded by the other members that we are not of their algorithm . . . . . us being at the top of the world.

If that word means what that person said.

How is my understandings on the world wanton?

I'm female.

This is the algorithm that I was talking about. YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, and the like have this concerning algorithm system that shows specific content based on people's personal preferences. It enables echo chambers that downplay critical thinking. I remember when online platforms didn't filter content based on people's personal preferences at all. They were shown content that challenged them. What I miss about the old online world was that diversity of content not being filtered out. I want to explore the world. Not have part of it hidden from me.

Illyrian thinks from the upsidedown. Never take him too seriously, hes usually joking around. But, great answer!
Welcome to the Boards! I also joined recently and have been really enjoying it here, there's a lot of really good discussion and friendly conversation. Trying to get away from more conventional social media was also a large part of what led me here, and I haven't been disappointed. It's much slower paced and a lot more thoughtful. What kind of books and music do you like?

Dont forget, you can post in old threads too! A lot of us have had our say and forgotten, but always happy, as fans, to be reminded.

@November, thanks for letting me know about them usually joking around if that's the case. 🙂

We have a lot to talk about! I am also on DIYStompboxes where we go through the electronics of the effects units some musicians use and I have restored a Hammond Solovox, a monophonic synthesizer from 1948. I once rebuilt a Traynor YVM-66 guitar amplifier for a girl who couldn't afford the 6CA7 output tubes to use 6BQ6GT tubes. It sounded great and there would be no problem with overvoltage on the delicate 6CA7's. I have some beefier 6DQ6B's for when she wants to bring it back to stock power output. (I hate 6CA7's. but I love tube technology for music.)

Vocal powerhouse music interests me since I like hearing how diverse human singing can sound. Songs about different topics, too. Funny songs are good when I'm in the mood.

The Hobbit, Uncanny X-Men comics, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, cookbooks, The Witcher series, and science-fiction are my book preferences.

Even though I know the highest human life expectancy is likely 85 years old, I want to slow down sometimes. "Haste makes waste" is wisdom that gets lost in this world of people doing everything recklessly quick. I want to protect my not-so-invincible body's health from this fast-paced nonsense.

Shanling, FiiO, Bang & Olufsen, Sony, and other audio speaker companies interest me. I love the audiophile speaker technology that makes music sound warmer, clearer, and fuller. But I have never heard about the Hammond Solovox.

The YouTube link above is what I ended up watching to hear. Listening to it reminded me of those suspenseful mystery cartoon shows I watched as a child.

His Solovox is the 3rd generation and it's the same as mine.
I did say if that means what that person told me. Yeah I know, excuses excuses.
As it is the word wanton can refer to both a males and a females thoughts on the world and it can be a good thing, according to the dictionary I have.

About your interest in musical stuff, I once helped a friend put together the electronics boards for a mate of his, Mr. Baldwin who was making a type of organ for the pop group he was in, his stage name was John Paul Jones and the group was Led Zeppelin.
