My Kennedy rant

Here is my contribution to the ranting:
I absolutely hated Kennedy as well. She acted superior, but in the end she was just another potential. She acted like she knew better than anyone.

Plus I hated the Willow/Kennedy relationship. I pictured Willow with someone less "mouthy". Oz was quiet but in a cool way and the first few seasons with Tara, she was quiet in an adorably shy way. Kennedy was too outspoken.

 

[This Year's Girl]

I don't have a problem with Kennedy. She could hold her own and she knew what she wanted. And the fact that she was brave enough to speak up even though she was "just" a potential takes a lot of guts, I respect that.

Willow's best match in the show was Tara for sure, but I think Willow deserved to try to move on, and Kennedy seemed to have made her happy.

 

[Chosen Enemy]

She has less experience and still claims to have one, she's rush and always wants to be on front in a war which means she might do something stupid and die fast. She's also younger than Buffy, which means less life experience, besides the slaying experience. In a nutshell, she thinks things she is not, and that's not always good to speak up when you're not all that. Also, I think she wants to prove herself so she could be the next Slayer, like this thing is being chosen by a panel of judges. Come on, that's not American Idol here!

Yep. Their is negative sides to it too and I agree about a lot of what you're writing. But as I said, I also think her being outspoken and a go getter is a good thing. 🙂

Loosing a loved one is always hard, and everyone deals with their greif differently. For me, I think it would have been to soon to get involved with someone, but then again, I've not been in that position and if I met someone who made me happy, why not? I think Kennedy cared about Willow a lot and I think their relationship was good for Willow. Kennedy was good to Willow, and her having personality traits that I don't care for much (I know I'm defending her, but I probably wouldn't be friends with her in real life, no 🙂) doesn't seem like enough to say that she's not good enough for Willow.

If you look it from how the writers thought though I think that the relationship with Kennedy might have been a way for show that Willow being gay wasn't something that was a phase, but that she could fall for other girls again.

 

[Willow My Love]

The problem with Kennedy wasn't that she was arrogant and bossy. Cordelia, who could probably give her a run for her money, was still very likable and relatable.

Cordelia had personality, and she was relatable in some ways. Plus, we saw a side of her that wanted to help and was sweet. Cordy wasn't a brat who thought she was above helping the Scoobies. She helped when she could, even if she didn't want to. Kennedy just wanted to prove she was SO much better than everyone else.

She was pushy and annoying and tried WAY too hard to be tough. Cordy wasn't tough, and Cordy never had to force herself on someone to get a relationship. Besides, she just wasn't right for Willow. She didn't mesh well with Willow's personality, and I didn't find that relationship believable at all.

 

[Seeing Red]

I liked Kennedy, of course I was not all that happy that she and Willow got together. But I got over that because she made Willow happy. I felt that she acted like one of the scoobies because she was older then the other potenitals and did not fit in all that well with them. I respected her for speaking her mind.
*Backs away slowly with hand raised *

What I'm basically trying to say, Kennedy dislikes Buffy, I figure, and putting her down all the time. Why would Willow want someone who dislikes and disrespects her best friend as her girlfriend? Maybe Kennedy cares for Willow. But she's not good for her if she disrespects her friends like that. That's why I think Willow deserves better than her, she deserves someone who doesn't only care for her, but also someone who cares for others. Because Kennedy as a potential Slayer, wants to be a Slayer because she relates to that, she loves that and it's obvious she wants to be the next Slayer. And I get the feelings that she doesn't want to become a Slayer to help and save the world from evil, but because it does it for her, if that makes sense.
