Hey all!

Thought I'd post pics for all my veggie lovin friends of my little garden. I've got squash, zucchini, cucumber, pumpkin, onion, green beans, corn, sunflowers, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, potatoes, and some herbs (basil mostly). We are using all organic fertilizers and pest control. Check out my new eco-friendly lawnmower/brush eliminator too. His name is Bill.

Please don't discuss vegetarianism vs. omnivorism in this thread unless you wanna hear me rant from my soapbox. Y'all know I love meat and how I feel about the (mis)perceptions of our farmers and ranchers that are spread through smut like PETA, HSUS, and ASPCA. Yes, there's abuse in certain instances, but that's the exception as opposed to the rule from what I have seen. Most farmers and ranchers love their animals and take good care of their livestock. That's all I'm gonna say about it.

Anywhoo, garden on 5/5/12!

When I saw the title I thought of something entirely else... 😛

Anyway, looks nice, love Bill! 😀

A bit jealous about the strawberries I must admit!

what were you thinking! lol!
We have a vegetable and herb garden too. I don't like many veggies but you can't beat home grown potatoes and runner beans. Also trying to get in the front door of our house is tricky because you get acosted by a bay tree 🙂

I just lol-ed at being accosted by a bay tree! I did not know they were prone to attacking people!
Wow, you have a lovely garden! I have a little garden in my back yard with zucchini, bell peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and strawberries. I wish I had more space in my yard to expand and have more. I absolutely love being able to go out back and pick some fresh veggies to go with dinner.

thanks!
Oooh looks great! I'd love to grow my own vegies one day, but I need more space and have to learn how to look after plants, I seem to kill everything haha. Which reminds me, I havent watered mine in a while...

Awwww soooo beautiful!!!!! I've never had a garden! I tend to kill plants. :-(

But I love them though.

me too! on the loving, not the killing....
That looks awesome!
I am a convicted plant killer, though, so I could never manage one of these on my own. 😀

thank you!
VisionGirl, we don't have fences (yet...you fence our yard its expensive!) So Bill is on some sort of chain run setup deal. I don't know what its called (a cable run?) Basically we have a cable that's about 30 feet long ran between two trees and connected to his leash and collar (yes my goat is collared) and he roams the 30 feet + 10 foot diameter oval searching for brush and yummy weeds to eat. We have to move him about once a week so he has more brush to eat. He seems to like it alright; he's got a little goat house (aka dog house) that we move with him and he's learned how to not get his leash tangled in the trees. I'd let him roam free, but dogs and coyotes (and the chupacabra that my son is convinced lives in the forest behind us) would probably make sure that didn't end well for him.

Random fact: my father in law's name just so happens to be bill...lol! I wanna get a girl goat and name her nana so I have two goats named after the inlaws! Ssshhhhhh!

I am so jealous, me and my husband live in a 2 bedroom flat with no garden 🙁 It's our dream to one day have a house with a garden, so we can grow our own veg! 🙂

I love gardening too 🙂 I've got cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, green beans, pole beans, pumpkins, lots of potatoes (yummy), and some herbs 🙂 It's my second attempt to grow some garlic but what I'm currently seeing on the fields doesn't look too promising
