My opinion on Sunnydale.

I believe destroying Sunnydale was a bad idea.

I think it would have been better had the town been completely abandon while mystical forces kept people away. Kind of in a way that resembles an island that is protected from people by having ships go around the island without the people ever knowing. So if people were on a road heading towards Sunnydale, they would always end up going around the town without the driver ever knowing, to them they were always heading in the right direction.

This would then leave the town to be discovered again and new tales could emerge. I always liked Sunnydale and I thought it was a really cool backdrop for the series. I would love to see a new series that involves Sunnydale.

Except for the whole Hell Mouth thing, Sunnydale reminds me of old advertisements where they would put in a fake address...123 Your St, Anytown, USA!

It was anything they needed it to be when they needed it to. Had a zoo, docks, beach, train station, University, magic shop. Whatever you need, Sunnydale can provide!

I was sorry to see it go, but it did make for a visually appealing ending to the series, especially when the sign fell...(and we knew there was no more Spike to knock it down.)

I always thought Sunnydale could have made a good daytime soap opera. BtVS could be a bit soapy at times, but I wanted a show that focused entirely on relationships, cheating, catty rivalries, scheming, low production values and questionable acting. Not all the vampires and demons had Big Bad aspirations, and most of the human residents weren't waging battle against the forces the evil. What about their stories?!

I thought that since Xander and Anya were sorta wasted in the final season anyway, after their aborted wedding, they could have been spun off as the main characters on this new show. Not that either actor was likely to do daytime TV or this was ever going to happen.

Maybe it could have been a nighttime soap opera, with Heather Locklear special guest-starring as the post-Wilkins Mayor of Sunnydale.

I loved Sunnydale, it was definitely a character in the show. Like @cryptwarmer said, it had everything a town could want, plus people who turned a blind eye to every possible atrocity that happened. I'm sorry it had to go, but it was an iconic end, and time for Buffy to move on.
