Watching the Doublemeat Palace episode, I suppose a lot of people can relate to this kind of fast food job. Or at least any crappy job.

Don't mean to depress everyone,:lmao: but what is the worst job you ever had?

Ive never had a good job. Stay in college Kids!!!!!!!!!! Im infact losing my job tomoz. So back to umeployment god my career sucks big time 😛

I worked in the dining hall during college serving breakfast to 300+ hungry, often tomes rude, students who just couldn't understand why everything that they ate couldn't taste exactly the way their mommies made it back home. We started work at 4:30 and worked until 1:30, which meant that I was getting up to go to work about the time a lot of people were just going to bed.

Thats sounds like a sucky job
I've worked at Wal-Mart, which was pretty horrific, but I also worked at a gas station chain (Sheetz--they're mostly through PA, VA, NC, and into NJ and OH) that combined the worst of working in fast food with the worst of working at a gas station/convenience store. In short, it was hell.

I've had a few in my career. Working as a CNA in a nursing home (old pervy men in diapers anyone?), Target (I asked for more hours, and they put me in the food court. NO.), and at Dillards (retail is hell). I actually like my job now, except when I get yelled at or hung up on by rude people (I'm a phone operator). And the pay sucks.

Thanks for the nightmares
Waitress at a coffee house. Absolutely horrid. Nine hour shift with one twenty minute break two hours in. I cleared the tables, served the tables, did the dishes, put away the dishes and worked the coffee machine. It wouldn't have been so bad if the other employees had helped to but the four of them only ever stayed behind the cash register chatting together while I was building man-sized muscles and looking longingly at a table seat. Needless to say the job did not last long.

I haven't had a truly horrific job. I have enjoyed and learnt from each of them.
My last job was probably the worst I have had. I absolutely loved the work but it was the other people who I worked with that made it so crap. Out of the 10 of us that were employed for the start of the prep season only 2 still work there (one of which is her daughter) and 5 of us left on bad terms. The ex boss is still sending harassing emails to the youngest of the group and is being threatened with legal action. I wish now that I had recorded what was said and what went on up there. At the time I kept getting told that I must have been misinterpreting things but obviously not, its a bit hard to misinterpret being called a Fkng sl*t by the boss hey!! If I had evidence I could get her in loads of trouble with the employment commission but all it would be is my word against hers and she had threatened my mate with a slander lawsuit already. In the end it will be more trouble than it is worth as she can very easily blacklist the lot of us. She has alot of money. She is a cleaver vindictive lady so hasn't contacted me at all since I quit as she knows I will just forward any harassing emails on to my EC.
Anyway people who know her keep saying "Karma is a bitch" so I'm sure she will get what is coming to her. It was a shame because I really enjoyed the work and I worked hard.

Sometimes women can be so nasty!
I reckon I can beat pretty much anything anyone can post about crappy jobs...I spent the summer of 1979 working as a labourer at a sewage treatment plant...literally a crappy job 😀...scrubbing the sedimentation and filtration tanks by hand armed only with a broom and a pair of waders 🙂

Actually, apart from the smell, it was actually quite an enjoyable time...young Pointy, at the peak of his fitness and gorgeous with it, working outdoors in the sun...sweat trickling down his handsome features as he laboured ceaselessly, his muscles aching as he pushed his body to physical extremes...sorry ladies, that's enough...I don't want to get you all aquiver 😉

The main problem was that, no matter how much I bathed (and it was a lot 🙂), nobody wanted to sit with me in the pub 🙂

Old men in diapers equals crappy job too, but I still prefer that to sewage plant!!! You win!
I've only had one job in my life. I'm still there and I love it. When I was in high school, I was one of those kids who got everything from their parents so there was no need for me to work until after.

Also one of the spoilerd non-working brats here. Always got everything from my parents, even know that I'm living on my own they give me enough money I don't have to work. So never had a job I could complain about.

I have had two real jobs so far in my life

I worked at Marshalls (which is a discount clothing store) as a cashier fulltime with little side jobs lol like i got to help unload the truck in freezing weather as well as put secruity tags on them which often lead to putting the pin in my frozen non feeling fingers lol... for the most part it wasn't too bad i was mostly a cashier actually i was the fastest, most efficiant cashier they had so i was praised alot....I had to quit though after i had my miscarriage i took a week off and they complained every day and when people asked if i had been fired they replied "No she just figures she needs time off and to make other people suffer" so due to that i found a better paying job and gave them the finger 😀

Next was Happy Harry's and for those of you who dont know its also hell.. 😀 I was a photo specialist (i like to make it sound important) I was the lovely lady who took the crappy disgusting photo's (and yay me i was the first person who worked their to get nude photo's that some guy wanted reprinted...) that you guys took and developed them... or really got it ready for the machine to do the hard work.. my store was crap so i was rarely really in photo for the most part i was up front because they had like 2 people working night shift... Me and a manager... or i was stocking shelves and getting on ladders to fix the overheads.... Then i got pregnant and because i couldn't do most of the things anymore they cut my hours and my car broke down couldn't get back and forth so i quit...

Now thanks to the boyfriend and my mom i haven't worked since the end of december and i wont be going back until about january of next year when the baby is 6 months old.

I washed dishes in a restaurant from the ages of 16-19. I worked the evening shift, which meant I started at 4pm and sometimes I wasn't leaving until 2 in the morning, and then I had to walk home, 'cause my bosses couldn't be assed to give me a lift, even though they passed by my house!!

Oh, and I had to do all of that without a break! And I was under 18 for most of that time. I really wish I had reported them! lol

Dishwashers of the world unite! :)
I worked in food service from the time I was 13 until the time I was 21. I started at the concession stand at the local suburban kid's ballfields (under the table for seven dollars a day), moved up to various fast food and/or general concessions booths at the hockey/concert arena downtown (where I had the privilege of dating the guy who skated around in the giant pizza costume), and then finally traded in those event/seasonal jobs for a steadier, more legal-type gig at the multiplex concession stand. I started that last one when I was sixteen or so and was promoted a year later. I loved it when I first started. I mean, hey, free movies and I got to work with tons of kids my age! But in hindsight, that job was pretty bad.

The work was physically hard for slightly handicapped Palabra, but I was a supervisor, so when we were in a crunch, I could delegate the harder physical tasks (like changing the syrup boxes) in order to save time. Plus, young Palabra was a cutie, so the male ushers were practically falling all over themselves to help me. Nevertheless, by the time I was 21, the physical stuff really grated. The hours were a drag, too. Evenings, weekends, and holidays are the busiest times, so any kind of social life had to be conducted at weird hours or planned two weeks in advance. For a long time, my schedule looked like this: come in Tuesday evening and clean all the crud nobody else cleans, battling the fruit-fly infested yogurt machine, the rat-infested ice cream freezer motor, the grease traps in the restaurant, the huge parking lot (sometimes, you'd get extra lucky and find used condoms), and the fruit punch dispenser with an icky layer of dead flies floating on top; come in Thursday and take inventory, weigh all the candy, pre-pop endless bags of popcorn, and (in the fall) field calls from angry parents wanting to know why their kids' shifts have been cut; then come in and close Friday, work a sixteen hour double shift on Saturday, and open on Sunday. Holidays were especially grueling, as we'd all work 50+ fast-paced, horrible hours per week with annoying dressed-up freaks calling me a hobbit or making crude light saber jokes. We'd also all get sick, but calling in sick on a holiday was a no-no and a fireable offense. Every year, I lost my voice for at least a week and had to give orders by gesturing emphatically, which is even less effective than it sounds and left my staff thinking I was yelling at them. One Christmas Day, the only way I could make it through my shift was to take in a bottle of DayQuill and just get drunk off of it. Also, every Christmas without fail, at least one crusty old man would seek out the youngest, most vulnerable-looking girl on my staff and insult her work performance until she cried. Because it appears that making little girls cry on Christmas is like a sport for some people. Bastards. Mixed into all of these good times were getting burns during 12-hour popping shifts, having a thief come in and steal from one of my employees, fielding cranky customer complaints, and trying to manage teenage goof-offs who don't seem to understand that A.) Singing and dancing while in uniform and on the floor is not acceptable in a customer service environment; B.) Break schedules are there for a reason; when you're late coming back from your break, that pushes everyone else off track and forces me to shave time off my break in order to compensate... so yes, I will write you up; and C.) If I ask you to clean something during down-time, but then customers arrive, you must quit cleaning said thing and return to your cash register in order to help the customers. I had a lot of great times with a lot of great people, but the work was really hard and dirty and thankless. By the time I left, I was just glad to have escaped.

So yeah, in hindsight: it was like the Doublemeat Palace, only I wasn't Buffy; I was that brainwashed manager guy. Or maybe I was like a Buffy/manager hybrid, because at least I can say I had handsome, leather-trenchcoat-wearing men pick me up from work for a good time (not on my breaks, though, or on theater property, cuz... eww. See above re: sanitation issues. Dirty, icky Buffy and her ooky dumpster sex! Bleck!).

Whoa, that place sounds....grueling. Makes my coffee house look like something out of Dawson's Creek. But I liked the bit about using the Cutie Factor. Always a winner ;) Hehe

Wow that sounds absolutely horrendous! (And really well written, you sound like a famous author writing their memoirs!
I haven't held many jobs, and those i have, have been tons of fun. But i did work for CVS for all of a month before i quit. I had the rudest managers on the face of the planet, and man that job was hell. it wasn't incredibly important i work at the time, so quitting was just fine.

A study showed that 82% of people who quit their jobs do so because of crappy management. I know it's the reason I left my last job & I'm so happy I did! Because where I work now... it's like the mothership called me home. So very happy to be here! (Yes, I can post while I'm at work!) 😀
