My poor dvd

My 6th Buffy dvd of season 2 has a huge gouge in it so Becoming pt 1 doesn't play. I went to www.buffydvd.com to see if they had any type of dvd replacement program, but they don't. Has anyone heard of any way to get a dvd replaced? I know some companies, like Disney, do it. I just thought I'd ask you guys to see if you had any ideas....
 
Couldn't you just bring it back to the store that you bought it at? Or would they just say it's your fault and not give you a new one?
 
I didn't think of that. I bought it from Amazon.com, and I'll check, but I really don't think it's their responsibility to replace it (It was my fault....the dvd was fine when I first got it). I was just hoping that fox had a generous policy about this.
 
find a rich friend with a dvd burner... copy it from a rented copy at your local vhs/dvd rental vendor....and enjoy
 
Depending on how long you've had the dvd you should be able to return it to amazon; it's obviously of substandard quality if there's a gouge in it, even if it wasn't there when you first got it. (unless you took a chisel to it, in which case I dont' think they'd take it back 😀 )

Of course i'd never do anythign like say that you gave it as a present and then found this gouge in it, hence any delay, because you had to wait to give it to your friend on their birthday, and of course you want a replacement because the goods were faulty when you bought them. No I'd never do that myself, and never recommend it 😉 😉
 
If you can't return get a dvd/cd fixer. I saw one at the store today. Some sales guy tried his hardest to get me to buy it. It fixes scratches and gouges. (supposedly) If it works it might help.
 
I actually have a dvd repair kit, and it has fixed many of the minor scratches I had, and I'm very happy with it. But this gouge is too deep for it. I did read about being able to fill in scratches and stuff with an "Optical filler" but I don't know what that is...would, say, clear nail polish work?

The thing is that my sister tried to polish the dvd down and she may have polished away the data....This sounds stupider than it is; I guess there is some room for polishing cuz the data doesn't live just on the surface.
 
man, that's the only thing i dislike about dvds...always getting scratched, and sometimes, they're even scratched when i buy them...it pisses me off!
