My Scythe

Well that is why I paid the amount because I knew there would not be anymore. It deff is just meant to hang on my wall. I Love it with all my heart, but I'm not truly happy with it. The paint job is sloppy, and the handle wrap looks incredibly fake the grip at the top almost came undone, but I fixed it. I am never going to touch it again, but i was thinking of redoing it myself, can I sharpen cast zinc? I would never resell I just want it to be as real as possible, any help would b great! love u guys!!!

Obviously, what you have is a prop, not an actual weapon, but never having actually seen more than pictures, I'm amazed that it isn't at least stainless steel instead of cast zinc (which, by the way, could probably be sharpened, but it's so soft that it would never stand up to actually cutting anything. about all that you would accomplish would be to abrade what I assume is a thin veneer of chrome, which would allow the zinc to then oxidize and deteriorate quickly). Even the cheapest wall hanger swords are made of stainless steel.

The best thing to do with it is to hang it on a wall or put it in a case somewhere and never touch it except to occasionally dust it. If you want a more practical near copy, try something like this:

Get someone to cut the rear blade and the spike off, shorten the shaft, add a little red and silver paint, some leather wrap for the handle, and you're ready to go demon hunting.

(granted, it's not an exact copy of Buffy's scythe, but I guarantee that the odd ubervamp that you might run into won't know the difference)

I was more lucky with the paint job I think, but I agree with you about the handle wrap. It's supposed to imitate ostrich skin, evidently, but looks nothing like it. I've been thinking about replacing it with the real thing.
