Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the place to share this. But I wanted to share with you that I've published a book about Sarah Michelle Gellar. 🙂
It's not a traditional biography but rather an academic work. It's based on a reception study/star study that I made while I was studying film at the University.
I completed my studies 10 years ago but it's taken me this long to re-work my research findings into a book.

The book is sort of a retrospective on SMG's career and how she was promoted in the media during the early 2000s.
I have also interviewed 16 fans trying to find out if male fans can identify with a female star as much as female fans.

If anyone's interested in reading the book you can find it here:

I hope nobody mind that I posted about this here. I figured other SMG fans might want to know about this book.

Take care,
Best wishes:
Karin.

Thank you for your interest in my book @Joan the Vampire Slayer 🙂

I have self-published the book through Amazon. So I think it will be hard to find another way to purchase it. 🙁
I do have a couple of authors copies at home that I am selling directly to people. You can PM me if you're interested in that.

I'm sorry you don't like Amazon. The reason I have published it with Amazon was because when I published another book 9 years ago the publishing company never paid me any royalties. I only got discount checks in their book shop on 3.30 Euro for each book they sold. Then I published a kindle version of the same book on Amazon and although I haven't made a lot of money from that either, at least the 30 Euros I've made they have paid me.

Lulu and Smashwords are a couple of other publishing platforms, but if you are exclusive on Amazon, you can't publish elsewhere.
Thanks for the tips of other publishing platforms. 🙂
I have never heard of them before and yes I am exclusive on Amazon. A friend who was an author recommended them to me too. He had published many novels with Amazon and had a good experience.

Just thought I'd mention that I've added a Kindle version of the book too. So if anyone prefers to read it digitally now you can. 🙂

@Ethan Reigns No I have not interviewed SMG since this is not a biography. I based the book on 16 interviews with fans and I also watched 179 tv appearances and read 77 magazine articles about Sarah that came out back in 1996-2006. If you have watched and read the same things you are not likely to get any new stories from reading my book.

But I think that you are likely to learn something new from reading my book. 🙂
When I began studying fandoms and stars back in the early 2000s I read a bunch of books by other scholars that had theories about what it means to be a fan etc.
Reading those books opened up my eyes to a new perspective and I learnt a lot about myself, since being a fan of different actors/singers/tv-shows/movies has always been an important part of my life.

Also I think that for newer fans, who did not experience the years when Sarah's career peaked, reading this book might give them an idea of what it was like to be a fan of Sarah way back when she was so popular that she was on the cover of all those magazines, was the spokesperson for Maybelline Make up, a guest of all those popular talk shows and the host of SNL and MTV movie awards. She was considered "Hollywood royalty". 🤩
So those years were very good years to be a fan of Sarah. 😎

@Moptop A friend of mine tagged her official facebook page when sharing the news about my book. So it's possible she knows about it.
But I don't know for sure since she has not made any comments about it or reached out to me. 🙁
