Hey there buffy/angel fans!

I'd like to have some input on a (very) rough draft of a Spike webpage that I'm working on.

Keep in mind that there's no content (ie, none of the links along the top go anywhere).

The URL is:

http://www.freecfm.com/m/macabre/

I'd like comments on the layout and color scheme. (Grey, black, white, red)

Plus I designed a cute little button that appears along the right side that links to buffybytes.com, the bestest buffy message board ever!

I appreciate any comments, good or bad! Thanks, everyone!
::tongue:: ooo, I love this widdle froggie!

Very pretty. Perhaps a bit of color? Maybe make the message box in the middle...red? Just my opinion!

Point accepted. I'm very fond of the black & white scheme, but I also know that perhaps most others aren't so fond of it. ;P

After experimenting with some shades of dark red, I've come up with a nice pair of colors for the main text box of the page. (Pages, eventually.)

Each inner page of the site will look like that index one, except for what's in that now red message box. Continuity is one thing that I always make sure to keep in all my page.

Thanks very much for taking a look at the site.

*nods* Yes, I like these colors very much! Perhaps a top scroll bar of the same shade of red? I think the overall appreance is on its way, I'm just a fan of more (dark) colors.

And I agree, continuity is good.

Well, the links on the nav bar at the top turn red when one rolls over them with the mouse, so I can't make the background of that red, hmmm.... I'll come up with something.

I say spice it up a bit. It seems rather dull. Just my opinion. 🙂
I guess I get sick of seeing the same ol same ol with Buffy sites. It seems as though people forgot what creativity is. Not saying you're not creative. Just most of the sites I see are designed in the same manner. Either that or they use the same fonts all the time or the same layout. I dunno maybe it's just me.

I hear where you're coming from there, Oracle.

But there's a very fine line between 'spicy' and 'distasteful', and I'm doing my darndest not to cross it. Basically, my site is going to be less about glitz and flash and more about content and easy navigation. In short:

no frames
no flash
no java
no dhtml
no yellow words on a blue background
no full-color backgrounds with black words that you have to highlight to read the goshdarned things
no midis set to 100% volume that make your ears bleed when they surprise you
no frames
no sounds (unless you -want- to hear them)
no animaged gifs
no blinking text!
no frames
no sign my guestbook
no VIEW my guestbook
no counter
... did I mention no frames?

I'm a simple girl. A dull, simple girl. 😉

Plus, i'm only a new/intermediate website designer. I barely know nothin about nothin yet. Hehe.

But nonetheless, I take your critisism with a smile 😀 Thanks for checking out the page and giving me your input.

Nothing wrong with that... actually that's what I look for first--content. With all that you mentioned above sounds/blinking text/and what not it makes it hard to find what you are looking for. It's good to see you are not wasting your time with the stuff that is not needed and tends to be in the way. What I ment by spice it up a bit was just make it more colorful. Not like the rainbow or anything just less black/white more color sheme. Maybe more pictures. Stuff like that. But yeah, great job. I will definitely be checking back. 🙂

By the way... If you need any help at all, let me know. I've been designing webpages for years now.
