My theories about the Turok-han.

I know that many people had an issue with how easy it was to kill the Ubervamps in "Chosen" so easy infact that even characters such as Dawn and Xander had no problem going into battle with them, when only a few episodes earlier Buffy was severely beaten and almost killed by the exact same creature.

Well to put my own mind at rest I came up with some logical reasons as to why they weren't as strong in the finale;

1. Maybe when the Ubervamps are below the Hellmouth they are not at full strength, and the circular contraption that Spike was tied to could be needed in the blood sacrifice with the seal of Danzalar, and without it they are simply mere Vampires.

2. The seal was opened with Slayer blood, the blood of a Slayer could be the key to making the Ubervamps weaker and easier to kill.

I know Joss said that the continuity wasn't his main focus during the finale, but I just wish he would have came up with some sort of explanation, he could have easily slipped it into an episode.

Yeah, the ubervamps were seriously toned down, and no doubt that's a continuity hole. But it didn't bother me like it did a lot of people. Would I have liked more of an emphasis on them? Ya, but like you mentioned regarding Joss' commentary, "Chosen" was about the metaphor, and I was cool with that.

I like your theories on why they're weaker. You know what would have been the best way to just obliterate them? Before opening up the Hellmouth, Buffy and her crew should have just sliced open the roof of the school so that when the Turok-Han streamed up, they would have been vaporized by the sun. I mean, tactically that seems like the best move (even though, I suppose they kind of do that in the end with Spike and the amulet).

One other theory I kind of have is that the single Turok-Han vampire that's released earlier in the season was powered up by The First specifically to fight Buffy. The First does that with Caleb a few times, so I don't think it's beyond the realm of believability to assume that. Maybe without The First powering them up they aren't as crazy-powerful?

I always hand wave the Turok-Han weakness in the finale. It's one of those things that doesn't really make sense but the final battle is all about the spectacle of facing the mpossible odds, but still coming out on top. Making those odds that impossible wouldn't seem right even for a series finale. Someone has to get out alive, after all and that many Turok-Han, based on how strong the first one we see, would have massacred everybody in 10 seconds flat.

I always explained it by looking at the food source avalable within the hell mouth, there didn't appear to be any humans, therefore those under the seal are starved and consequently weak. Whereas, the other turok han had been out and about in sunnydale, so probably took some time to chow down on the populace, thus making him stronger than the others.
