My top five characters:

5: Anya--the cheerful humor, love of cash, and good looks in her red nightie while singing. What's not to love about those thoughts?

4: Xander--just when you thought things were going downhill, here comes Xander with his funny lines and loyalty...and he does that without any real powers at all

3: Willow--where else can you get a computer geek, lesbian, and powerful witch all in one package? Just like the others listed, it is her fun nature that drew me to her...except in season six when she went off the deep end.

2: Faith--does she have the snippy attitude and spunk or what? She is truly what a slayer should be.

1: Giles--the only character that basically remained stable through the whole show. He stayed an instructor and helper while keeping everybody within themselves (such as containing Willow for a while from season six)

Ohh I hate choosing 5 characters, but if I had to choose:

5) Anya - Her character was so funny, and her dying in Chosen just made her better!
4) Buffy - Come on What a hero!
3) Faith - She was brilliant to watch, her change and transformaton was so entertaining!
2) Tara - I thought she was a brilliant character, she was funny and so cute!
1) Willow - So funny, entertaining, moving and just plain brilliant, as a good guy and a bad guy, plus all the reasons CC mentioned

On Angel my favourite characters are Cordelia Fred and Illyria, they were all s cool!

Here's my top 5 favorite characters.

1. Cordelia- She was just awesome! She went through such a big transformation. She went from being the bitchy high school cheerleader to being a warrior with a heart of gold. She was also hilarious.

2. Spike- He was so cool. He was like the male equivelant of Cordelia. He went through a big change in the series also. He was also the one that always told the scoobies they were idiots just to make them feel bad.

3. Tara- She was just so sweet. I loved how Tara was the nicest character to ever be on both shows. Her death on the show was one of the saddest moments.

4. Anya- An ex-vengeance demon who didn't know how to act like a human. Anya is definetly a favorite.

5. Angel- I really liked Angel on his own show. He was funny and a lot tougher than he was on Buffy. I didn't really like him much on Buffy though.

OK, well my first 2 choices are easy.

Joint 1st place, Tara and Lilah.
Obviously these choices aren't for the same reasons, i mean for the love of Whedon, you could NOT get two more different characters...ok

Tara, she is just so beautiful, sweet and peaceful. Her progression from the meek woman to the powerful confident woman is a great story and she lights up every episode. She has a beautiful voice both for talking and singing, has awesome chemistry with Willow, Dawn and Buffy while not feeling out of place in the group as a whole. Her death was most powerful, creating one of the better Scooby show downs yet.
Also, the fact she doesnt appear as the First is amazing as it opens to a great idea......

Lilah, is beautiful, powerful and dominant. Everytime she is in a scene, you know she is there. Her initial powerplay with Angel then turning to the affair with Wesley which blossomed into love was really awesome TV. Her death is my absolute fave moment in Angel while being my saddest moment too, as it was the end of a character i adored....or so i believed.

now for my other three......thats so hard, i really dont know...let me get back to this cause there are so many....
Lorne, Angel, Wesley, Willow, Giles, Cordelia, Faith, Darla, Spike are some contenders.....

5. Giles: He was always so likeable. I mean, the british accent, the knowledge... he's got the package!

4. Xander: Funny! Need I say more?

3. Willow: I liked her a lot better when she started getting her magic skills. She was very interesting to watch

2. Spike: My most favorite vamp. He was just hilarious!

1. Buffy (duh): This character is my ultimate favorite. I can't even describe it, but she just takes the cake!

Angel: for his dark broodiness..not because he is lush honest...
and that fact that he will help people no matter what.

Cordelia: she has grown from a bitchy highschool brat to a mature woman.She has learnt how to be compassionate and humble yet wise through inheriting the visions from Doyle and working alongside Angel and co.
Honerable mentions:
Fred:She is sweet yet strong, really grew out of herself over teh years till the end, when she died, very tragically her last words are atill very powerfull and that song place called home stilll brings tears to my eyes.

Spike: So very funny and dry humour still crakes me up there is a softy deep inside that he hides well over that tough guy exterior that makes him appealing.
the others Gunn, Lorne and Wes i would mention but like the others said the choice is few..

Angel : "Everything I touch turns to ashes." I have incredible sympathy and pride for him. He's lost everything and manages to get back up.

Cordelia : She became an incredible person and always had Angel's back.

Kennedy : She made it feel like the early seasons again and was one of the last great additions.

Lilah : She's really cool and powerful.

Faith : I hated her in Buffy, but when she cried in the alley in Angel, I finally understood her.

1- Andrew- he makes me laugh, hes hot, and he's a huge nerd...my kinda guy right there

2- Spike- besides his sexiness hes tough, will do anything for the few he cares about and can kick some massive ass with or without the chip in his head (not to mention...the 70's looked way too good on him)

3- Oz- my little laconic rocker..love him. The way he can make me laugh with such few words...and, hot

4- Lorne- this demon is too sweet for words, his vocabulary makes me laugh and I love his homeland.

5- Drusilla- Just like The Blue said above ^ she's dark, beautiful and deadly...plus insane, makes me laugh
