Hey guys! I went to my first convention! I have been anticipating it for months. I am a grown, 30 year old woman and I was as nervous and excited as a 6 year old going to Disney World. My husband bought the tickets for me as a birthday gift. It was a huge declaration of his love for me because I annoy him to the ends of the earth with my Buffy obsession. We went with our 6 year old, my husband's friend from work and his 8 year old so it was a packed car for the 2 hour drive there. The traffic getting there was insane! I was actually worried because the James Marsters photo op started at 11:15, and they prefer you be there 15-30 minutes early. By the time we parked, got inside, checked in, and made it to the photo op, it was 11:10. I had only 5 minutes to spare but I made it!

Our friend was getting a photo with Norman Reedus from the Walking Dead, and I understand he is a big deal right now, but 100% honest I think I would have been less nervous meeting him than I was with James Marsters! I think because the whole Buffyverse is such a big deal to me that all of the actors involved with it are MY A list stars. So I am feeling awfully silly standing in line with a fluttering heart and shaky hands. When it was my turn to take a picture, he reached out and shook my hand with the most sincere smile and looked me directly in the eyes and either said "How are you?" or "Who are you?" hahahaha but I have no idea because I was so dazed! I just smiled and said "it is so nice to meet you" with a huge smile. He put his arm around me and we took the picture. And then it was over as quickly as it started. I have to say that even in such a short amount of time...like in the 10-15 seconds you have to get in and get out, he was very good about making it feel like you mattered. He looks you in the eyes and speaks directly to you, isn't afraid of touch you and in fact initiates the pose, and looked back at me with a smile and said thank you after I thanked him when I was leaving. He was extremely nice!

Sadly I didn't have the funds to take a picture with Eliza Dushku, but that is ok! Because shortly after that, we went into the heart of the Wizard World experience where all the fun stuff is and you can walk around the autograph tables and see the celebrities without approaching unless you got the money!
So I was totally happy that I even got to see her from afar, but then it got better. At some point she left her table to go somewhere I assume was probably a bathroom for a break, and she and whoever was with her nearly walked right into me. We came within a hair of bumping noggins people. I quickly stepped back with a "woops! I'm sorry!" and she gave me a smile and a nod. She acknowledged me haha.
Later I attended the James Marsters panel and got a very decent seat considering I wasn't VIP. I have heard most of the questions and the answers he gave from watching other panels on youtube, but a few were new and I enjoyed hearing these stories again anyway. I even got to purchase the first two issues of season 8 Buffy comics. I am going to start reading those too. And to top it all off I got a Buffy funko pop vinyl figure. Now sitting on my bookshelf is my Buffy and Angel box sets, my buffy figure, my picture with James Marsters, and two comics. I can finally say I have a collection, if only a very small one! You are never too old to let your inner nerd shine people! I can post a photo of me with JM if you guys want to see it!

Oh yeah....and the costumes people wore were awesome, insane, hilarious, and some just questionable! Wizard World was amazing and they are going to come back to Oklahoma next year!! I better start saving now 🙂
Thanks for letting me share my experience guys!

That is awesome to hear! James Marsters sounds like such a nice guy, I love when actors don't let fame de-humanize them. As if you almost bumped into Eliza! I would have been so star struck if that happened to me lol.

That sounds awesome! Glad you didn't miss the photo shoot with JM. Almost bumping into Eliza is better than not. lol. I would have been star struck too and might've started drooling. lol. No, but seeing her in person from any distance would be awesome. I would like to see the picture of you and James is you don't mind. He seems like such a nice guy, his panels always sound fun.
