I usually take the initials from people i know, and build a new name/character from it.

Such as, my initials are VG.

When I write story arcs, i tend to make them self-contained but they should also have an impact on the next one. Also, twist endings are very fun to write. Especially if they have a major impact on the sequel.

What do you guys think?

I like the taking initials and making character names out of them. FYI, my initials are AM, just saying. lol. Twist endings are fun if done right. Like your saying about impacting the sequel, similar to 'Surprise'/'Innocence' or 'Bad Girls'/'Consequences'.

In a my fanfic I created a new character. He is the Connor's son and his name is Carl. To create the name I used the first and last letters of the names Connor and Angel.

That doesnt work with ALOT of names.. Although if Dawn was called Jbey I think she would have been more popular!
