On a friend's urging, I recently got a Myspace account, and the first message that I got was from some girl telling me that she was "single and willing." Is that what normally goes on there, or is it just that I accidentally posted a picture of Ron Ely as Tarzan instead of my own picture?

Bots. The place is infected with bots. You'll get messages from dudes and chicks alike talking about their cams and whatnot. allllllll bots.

MySpace is pretty much the armpit of the Internet. Doesn't stop me from having one, though. 😀

That's so funny WA! - I just created a myspace account this morning... all my friends been bugg'n me to do so for ever & a day... so I finally did. Been mess'n around with it for the PAST THREE HOURS trying to figure out how to do *this* or *that*.... god, I am SOOOO *NOT* a geek.

Wish I was, tho.

yeah anything that popular and with so many users is gonna have all that and more! still ive got one, but i hate it. you will get messages and friend requests off everyone and their dog to be honest.

Well, I like dogs...
There's a way to lessen that, especially if you get lots of friend requests from bogus profiles. Just change your settings so that people have to use a CAPTCHA, that helped me LOADS.

WA...the older discerning gentleman(ie. me 😉) using social networking sites on the internet tends to gravitate towards Facebook. There's even a BB group in there somewhere...having said that we have a BB Myspace account too 🙂

I've said it before, I will say it again - myspace is for teenyboppers :p ;)
I really prefer Facebook. I have a MySpace account and sometimes use it to find music, but that's really the only reason I like MySpace at all – to find those not so known but great bands. Then again, these days, you can listen to a lot of music via iLike on Facebook.

Um, no lie. My friends sister created a MySpace FOR HER DOGS. srsly. It's really kind of depressing.

And about Facebook...it's alright. The bullshit factor is cut down by loads, but MySpace, being the armpit that it is, always held a certain charm for me. I like to be able to personalize my profile look and stuff like that, and you can't do that on Facebook. Facebook, to me, has a bunch of petty annoyances I don't know how to shut off, while I've hovered around MySpace long enough to know what's up.

see i wasnt joking...
I think MySpace is pretty good to get news from your favorite bands.
Most of my friends are artists/bands.

It can be a bit annoying with friends requests from random bands that aren't even close to anything you like.
Requests from bots are also annoying of course.
But I don't get that many so it's okay I guess.

Have never got into Facebook, I mostly got an account to see how their applications worked. So I could try to do my own for fun 🙂

I stopped getting random requests when i made my profile private. I used to hate people trying to add me to try get more friends on their friend list when they had nothing in common with me. I hardly use my myspace, use facebook more.

I need more friends on fb! Don´t care that we have absolutely nothing in common. ;)
I used to have a Myspace, but on dialup, with very few friends how had it too, a seriously annoying amount of those camgirl bots etc it was just far too irritating and never used. So I deleted it, I don't have any "personal" sites anymore.

I never wanted a myspace. A few years ago, my friend decided I had to have one, so she made one for me while I was sleeping over her house. It was fun for a mad minute and then, not so much. I never went on. I actually got my friend to go in and delete mine for me 'cause I couldn't bring myself to do it.

That doesn't address the question, surely, so sorry 'bout that!

yeah i was forced to get one too, same with facebook... i dont use them but its nice to have.... why its nice i dont know.... ive confused myself now

For whatever reason, the first time that I tried to sign on to the thing after I had gone through all of the proper steps, returned their notification message...after all of that, I can't sign on because the e-mali address that I gave them, the address to which they sent the acceptance notification, "doesn't exist."

I just love the internet.

i think i would blame myspace, i have that 'remember me' checked everytime i sign in... and i have to sign in every time, you see the problem?
