I’m surprised to see Delena. Once a time you told me you don’t like that pairing. Or maybe Îm wrong

I don't think that I've told that I don't like Delena. Actually, I find Delena really interesting because of the build up & chemistry compared to Stelena where there's no build up & that the show tells us from the start that they are soulmates.

Overall, I just don't like how the show as a whole will turn out to become from S5 onwards and Delena is one thing that I 'm disappointed because of how it's portrayed & how the chemistry between Ian & Nina seemed to have disappeared after their break up.

Having said that, S1 to S4 Delena is my favorite pair from TVD. S1 is my favorite season for Delena because of the great build up between Damon & Elena.

Y'know, I think you just hit the nail on the head for me, on why I don't like couples like Stefan/Elena, Angel/Buffy, or other couples like that; it's because we're told that they make a great couple, instead of letting us come to that decision ourselves, over time.

It reminds me of Nick/Jess from New Girl who were never supposed to be a couple but their chemistry combined with fans wanting it, made it happen. I know not all TV couples can be like that, but I like it when they grow naturally instead of them being planned from before the show even begins airing.

Side Ship - despite the many combinations of ships with the Angel cast I struggle to connect to any of them really. Erm Cordy/Doyle I liked even though it was short and sweet. I do think Cordy/Gunn was the long term ship for Cordy that never happened though

So I’m rewatching Smallville with my son and the addition of Lois Lane really brightens the show and makes me root for the ship for reasons other than well duh Clark and Lois end up together. I think the structure of Smallville owes a lot to Buffy but it was so melodramatic without the light banter to help break it up and Lois adds that, Clark is more animated and lively around her and he softens her rough edges. It also helps that they are overall a mature, adult, healthy dynamic.
