I also like "The Back Steps", but I think that it's maybe a tad too sweet and lovey dovey. 😀

I don't think it's overly sweet. It carries all the sadness, the feelings of loneliness and isolation that drove the two together, out on the threshold in the dark, while at the same time calling to mind the comfort that they both got just being together. I think that was at the heart of the relationship long before the night they spent in season 7.

So "The Back Steps" is getting a lot of love closely followed by "Randy and Joan" - should we just choose between these two or continue debating?
 
I really like "The Back Steps." It isn't mushy like some of the other ones suggested, and it really is where a lot of the Spuffy moments took place. 🙂
 
I too like "The Back Steps" - I like that it is a place that is significant to Buffy and Spike and a place for us Spuffy fans to meet and chat.
 
I kinda want something that points to either Chosen or Touched, our most beautiful Spuffy episodes, like...

  • How It Ends

The thing is with those, they don't really say 'Spuffy' to me. They're too... ambiguous?

I think we need something that's actually said or is physically in the show itself, so that someone browsing the forums for the first time can instantly connect to the ship.

The Back Steps describes Spuffy perfectly, for both actual and metaphorical reasons.

Actual:

The back steps/porch of Buffy's house is where a lot of the most integral parts of the Spuffy relationship. They always talked there, and... it was just romantic.

Metaphorical:

The Spuffy relationship has always been behind Bangel, if you know what I mean. Bangel was always the front-runner, or on the "front porch." Spuffy is more quiet and on the "back steps." I don't know, lol, but I really like it.

I dunno, I guess I'm just not that into romance. 😀 After all, the spuffy 'ship in itself isn't one of those soppy romances novels. 😀

But I do think that The Back Steps is the best one so far, so, have we reached a verdict?
