so its the third episode tonight.

still havent made up my mind, im a massive fan of Chris Morris' other work, Day Today, Jam, Brasseye etc but was mucho dissapointed with the first episode with its subtle nature and lack of laugh out loud jokes. then ep2 i knew what i was going into and laughed at the background jokes (like a poster for a documentary called "Nazi Experiments IN COLOUR!") and amazingly i find myself looking forward to episode the third.

I thought that it was OK and will watch it if there is nothing better on.

Great that it takes the mickey out of all the arty-farty London "yoof" media types but, to me, they pretty much do a good job of that themselves (which makes Nathan Barley a little redundant 😉) plus they are such an easy target. I think that the whole premise of the show seems to be played out in the first ep - round Dan's "Rise of the idiots" article - so it will be interesting to see what else they come up with.

The show is a bit to clever-clever for its own good for my taste and in danger of disappearing up its own fundament. Chris Morris is never going to get a massive audience with it but he has managed to put just enough in to keep me watching. However he has done much better (The Day Today being my personal fave).

You're right about the second ep being better Faldor and the trashbat.co.ck site is worth a visit (tho' it's not as good as the fictional one appears to be🙂)

To paraphrase a quote currently appearing on Irish Billboards, under normal circumstances I would happily wallow in Morris' televisual garbage. Or worse, his actual garbage. But Nathan Barley just doesn't spark for me. As mentioned, some of the background gags are great, but I still haven't found anything even remotely as funny as, say, This Is Our War or Cake.

Seriously, what is it about Morris Vs. The Media? Did The Media beat him up and take his lunch money when he was a kid or what?

Yea, talk about biting the hand that feeds you...perhaps he's following that old writers' edict about "writing about what you know" and he doesn't know much 😉
