I was hoping someone here had been through this and could give me some tips on rekindling my waning love affair. See, my love and I had been going strong for about 5 years up until recently when I've been feeling that it's all slipping away. She just doesn't hold my interest like she used to.

I remember the halcyon days when I couldn't wait to get home from work, cook us something to eat, pour a glass for us, pop in a DVD and we'd spend hours together, being excited, laughing, sometimes crying, me marveling at her exceptional wit and insight. Afterwards I'd jump on the 'net and all I could do was talk about her. But lately I've been drawn to younger beauties that seem so much fresher and more entertaining. I feel so guilty yet I keep finding excuses not to return to her. Please tell me it's not over! There was a time when I was defined by my love for her and I don't want to let all we had slip away.

If there's anybody else out there who's had periods where their love of the Buffyverse has waned and you've felt you're over it, please give me some tips on how you've overcome it and rekindled your love. It's probably been 2 months since I finished watching Buffy through for the 8th time and I just can't face starting all over again. I almost had to force myself to watch some eps of Angel a couple of weeks ago and I felt I was just going through the motions. With Lost, Smallville, Prison Break, Supernatural, Veronica Mars all on now, plus I've just discovered Roswell and rediscovered Seinfeld and Blackadder on cable, there just doesn't seem to be time for Buffy and Angel. I've loved it for so long that I don't want to let it go, you know. Please help!

I went without for about 7-8 months, just started up again watching in January. So, I guess I'm cycling through some of the eps on DVD for the 3rd time. Others, just the 2nd...don't even have Buffy 7 on DVD...

At a certain point, I guess you know the characters seemingly inside and out. You start to view the eps like an academician or an anthropologist. (Well, I do, lol). You end up studying it...have you read any Buffy books relating to philosophy, culture? Do you care about that stuff? Slayage.tv has fun essays (and some nearly unintelligible, overly academic ones).

If you can't watch it and enjoy it as drama anymore, and that's all you want...I'd say just leave it alone...

Even though my love is still sort of new, I think we're celebrating our two year anniversary soon, I still have troubles holding on to it. Te love is there, but I just.. don't watch it unless I happen to meet another fan. Hm. I don't know what to do about it though. But I'm never letting go, never!

Maybe you need a break from each other? I mean, people sometimes need some time apart to learn how much they appreciate each other, you know......you have lots of outside interests you want to pursue and that's fine! She'll still be there when you're ready to come back. ::heart:: The whole nature of your relationship could be changing, too.....maybe she's changing into an "old friend," who's always there for you with a quick pick-me-up. Something you look back on with fondness and that gives you a solid foundation to face a brave, new world! :in_love:

Or.....maybe you're just  .
