Netflix and plans about shared account

Netflix will not let you share account anymore for free.
But that's not true. You can share it with anyone in your household.

As far sharing outside of the household, good, about time they stopped that! They never should have allowed that to begin with as all it does is prevent new subscribers and reduces profit. If you want Netflix, then pay for it. If you don't want to pay for it, you must not want it enough.

But what if I'm babysitting my best friend's cats for a week at her house? That would mean I couldn't use my account at her house which isn't fair.

Have a chat to your best friend and if she agrees use her account.

You still log-in with your account. (Unless it's different outside of the US) The sharing accounts is when they're multiple different user profiles tied to one account. Doesn't mean you can't sign into Netflix if you are outside your home.

I’m confused as to how they are going to track this. It says you can still use your account for travel on the go, or holidays. But they’re shutting off access to people outside your home? What if, for example, you have a kid who goes to college? Technically (according to tax law) they are a part of your household. But they live at the university. So, they’re going to not allow access to your kid at college? That doesn’t seem right.

I don't have Netflix, but it always seems unfair to me that such policies favor families over singletons. X-ref cable accounts, WiFi, and basically everything else that charges one price for a household, whether it has six people or one person in it.

Kids are expensive. Way too expensive, and my next post in the Funnies section is because this reminded me of it. (I bet a lot of unpaid marketing research also went on before they tossed the results and put out garbage anyway, ego over data.)
There's nothing much I want to watch on Netflix anyway. This doesn't bother me too much.

This is so relevant. I find myself endlessly scrolling these days. It’s filled with foreign content, which is definitely a plus, but if I want something on that I don’t need to pay attention to, it makes it difficult to find something. I love foreign shows and movies but I like to have subtitles for those, so I have to be in a certain mood for them.

And most of the English content, I don’t love. Especially the reality shows.

I don't recall the reasons (there was more than one) why I said no to Netflix, and I think this is permanent. (The reason I saw the article on Ortega that I mentioned in another thread is because I was talking to someone else thinking of getting rid of it, she actually pulled up the article on her phone.) I find even the shows I'd be willing to see if I stumbled into them (as opposed to a subscription) just can't hold my interest. Even Stranger Things, I'm perfectly content to depend on the wiki to know what happens next with virtually zero interest in actually seeing it (and how they ended the last one, plus general ST burnout, was just one of the reasons I got fed up with them).

Overall, I don't care if they go under (even if Stranger Things is never finished). If they want to do this, fine. I just can't find it in me to care as I won't be paying for it anyway (and I preferred my own private account even when I did rather than sharing).

I do recall that it annoyed me that I got an alert every time I signed into my own account after my last computer died. We live in a culture of planned obsolescence, especially for electronic devices, it should not be so hard for them to figure out that I'm on a new device (in my own home, using my own wifi). Even using a different browser will trigger an alert. This was a mild peeve and not really why I got rid of it, but it does make me wonder how they'll pull this off (particularly with other services at work to obfuscate where you are). And tech companies show an incredible incompetence in using modern methods to manage these things (save for the spyware, etc).

My remote control for my Panasonic Blu-Ray player has a button for Netflix on it and it is in such an awkward place that I often press it by accident.
The comments I've said about bloody Netflix - do you think they heard me?

This is just going to encourage more and more piracy, utter stupidity.
Oh, definitely.

Not only that, people will vote with their feet. They'll move to a cheaper platform or one that doesn't have these restrictions.

My friend was sharing with her brother and they locked her out. Possibly as her brother lives in France and she's in England so very obvious that it was different households.
