Netflix Drops Whedonverse Shows

I don't use netflix I have the DVDs but this sucks for all of the people on here who watch this way 🙁
 
Alright, I'm calming down now, someone commenting on the Whedonesque blurb says:
Netflix has previously announced its business plan over the next few years is to transition from being primarily a DVDs-in-the-mail service to one where the majority of its customers are streaming via their account. ISTR this is related to the costs of mailing DVDs vs streaming. Their catalog of streaming titles has increased overall, despite the shrinkage of expiring titles.

I expect they will soon or eventually renegotiate these fan favorites. That they allowed this contract to expire may simply be a precursor perhaps to renegotiating a larger deal.

But this isn't the one with the 40th DVD, right? The one with all the special stuff? Isn't that the Chosen Collection? Still, that's $10 a season, great price. I think I checked out Ebay awhile back, and I couldn't even find used DVDs for that price.
 
That is an awesome price... One of these days I may ask my hubby for The Chosen Collection on DVD for Christmas or a birthday or something. But right now I'm just mad. Instant streaming is just SO convenient!!

It really is. No getting up & changing DVDs. You can just sit on your couch or in bed & click the remote. The ultimate in laziness LOL! 🙂

I'm currently watching season 1 of Fringe, and it's taking me foreeeeever, because they don't have it available on instant streaming. So I have to wait until the DVD gets to me, watch it, send it back & wait for another. I know they're fairly quick, but I sometimes have to wait longer because I sometimes choose to be nice & allow my kids or husband to get a movie. 😀 If it were on instant streaming, I'd be done with it by now.

Is Buffy & Angel on Hulu Plus? I know that some eps of ATS were on Hulu. I'm considering giving up cable for Roku anyway, and you can get Hulu Plus on there as well as Netflix.

Now I gotta fell all rushed to watch Dollhouse Season 1... and worry it affects other shows I'm catching up on... I kind of want to say some words right now.
 
Ugh.

I have the collections for Angel and Buffy, but I like that I can watch it at work when I feel like it instead of watching some shitty stream.

Also, if I travel and wish to watch, I have a full selection available instead of lugging around a whole consort of DVDs for my weird tastes. I skip around according to my mood, and I can't predict that.

My DVDs sometimes mess up, and overheat my computer, and overall, it's easier than dragging out the DVDs.

Arrrg.
 
And right in the middle of my re-watch? Grrr... Plus, I wanted to checkout Dollhouse eventually! I have Firefly on DVD but that's all! However, that set doesn't sound too bad. I'll buy it eventually. Oh, and my local Target is selling seasons 1 and 2 of Angel together for $20. Hmm.... still, this is madness! Madness, I tell you!

Only way to feel better now is to watch Band Candy... :/

I don't see any indication of this in my instant queue. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. But my 6 yr old & I are so used to being able to put on OMWF anytime we want! Boo- they're going to break a 6 yr old's heart, big meanies! 🙁

Guess I'd better interrupt my Bones s2 watching in order to start Dollhouse.

That's what I'm wondering. I just told my dad and his friends and they laughed at me. Perhaps this is a joke? Kinda a stupid one.
 
I doubt it's a joke. Netflix takes things off the Instant View all the time. Sometimes they come back. I'll be sorry to lose this but I'm not planning on canceling my subscription out of spite or anything.

Yeah they do change it up a lot. I'm not cancelling our subscription, either, but I'm definitely not happy about it.
 
Sounds like a contract ended to me. Maybe the studio wants more money for it or Netflix doesn't want to pay what the studio wants for it. From what I can tell they seem popular on Netflix, so I would think they would want to keep it around. I wouldn't be surprised if they came back in the future.
 
I ended up buying all seasons, however, before Netflix I had only seen BtVS in scattered re-runs. Sad to know that other people won't get the same chance as I did. (To watch it numerically, especially for the first time.)

But I havent watched all of Firefly yet. Oh man i better hurry........
 
It's still not warning me that the shows are disappearing from Instant Watch.... I have warnings for other things expiring on the 1st, but not Buffy.
 
A friend of mine who has Netflix double checked (she's in the middle of watching Angel for the first time) and she says only Season 1 of Angel is expiring. IDK about Buffy, but what does this mean for Angel?
