Luke Cage's executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker said that Luke Cage will be The Wire of Marvel movies. To which I say ahahahahaha. You funny.

Coker said "“It’s very sophisticated. I mean, it’s got a ’90s hip-hop vibe, but it’s really forward-thinking."
If that is all The Wire was to him then Fresh Prince of friggin Bel Air could have been The Wire of situational comedies.

To say the show "will be The Wire of Marvel" I think buys into the Marvel and Netflix hype just a little too much. I don't know why you would want to compare yourself to the best TV show, period.

It'll be good, I doubt it'll be The Wire, though! That's just unrealistic expectations for the show.

If it's as good as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, it'll be good enough. 🙂

'90's hip-hop vibe.'

So, really teeth-grindingly dated then? Few things date quicker than urban culture.
They don't have to make it a 'vibe', they just need to tell a decent story. Daredevil had some nice religious symbolism and JJ had some private detective tropes but that was it.

Weren't you the one that commented on the trailer soundtrack? Worried if it would be indicative of the show? It looks like it might be.[/QUOTE]
