I've had a ferret now for about 6 months. He's an albino, his name is Duke. Actually had to take him to the vet today because I thought he may have swallowed something he shouldn't have--turns out he didn't, and just has a little bug.

Anyway, Sunday I got a new baby ferret, only about 12 weeks old! She's so tiny! They've been playing together. Well, "playing" is kind of a loose term. Duke, about 3 times bigger than her at this point, wants to establish his dominance. Ferrets go about doing this in quite a strange way: they 'bite' each other on the scruff of the neck then drag the 'loser' across the floor! It's pretty funny actually. And it seems really violent (when it first happened I was worried) but I was told that the behavior is quite normal. As long as there's no "fear poop", blood, or screaming, there's no problem.

As for her name, I'm pretty much decided on Tempe, ala Temperance Brennan. I initially considered Willow but ferrets don't have red hair. Then Anya, but the whole fear of a small rodent just didn't seem right. Went through many Buffy-names, and since I've been reading "Deja Dead", and since I just plain love Bones, I came to Tempe.

My parents are in Corona for the week and they have my camera, but I'll put up some pictures when they get back this weekend.

PS: I miss coming here! I've been so flipping consumed in school, I've barely had time to get online. Dec 17 is my last exam/paper due, so I'll be around more. I haven't even been able to read the end of "Retreat"! AGH!

I was wondering why there was no pics but there's the explanation. The domination thing would have scared me too if I wasn't aware that it's natural.

I'm looking forward to your photos. Ferrets are cool, but demand too much for my lifestyle. I always said that if I reached thirty without having any kids, I'd buy a ferret and give it a really cool life.
