Hey guys, i am new to this forum but i thought it was important to post this right away. I assume that you guys are all as big Buffy TV Show fans as i am so this announcement kinda made me angry. The Executive producers of the show are planning a "Relaunch"/Reboot of the Buffy Franchise WITHOUT ANY OF THE ORIGINAL CAST. This pissed me off, here is the link to the article. We should see if we can band together and get a petition going to stop this or let it be known that if they are going to put buffy on the big screen then it needs to be with the TV show cast.
And since i am new and can not post a URL to other sites yet, here is the article. The Site is Bloody - Disgusting . com just delete the spaces. If you guys have any questions just PM me.

Buffy Gets High Profile reboot
It appears all of those rumors were true. The sexy, tough, comical and tough Buffy is heading back to theaters in a big way as Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment (The Ring, The Grudge) are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel. Read on for the skinny and talk back to let us know who YOU think should play the new Buffy.

A new incarnation of Buffy the Vampire Slayer could be coming to the big screen.

"Buffy" creator Joss Whedon isn't involved and it's not set up at a studio, but Roy Lee and Doug Davison of Vertigo Entertainment are working with original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, on what is being labeled a remake or relaunch, but not a sequel or prequel.

While Whedon is the person most associated with "Buffy," Kuzui and her Kuzui Enterprises have held onto the rights since the beginning, when she discovered the "Buffy" script from then-unknown Whedon. She developed the script while her husband put together the financing to make the 1992 movie, which was released by Fox.

Kuzui later teamed with Gail Berman, then president of Sandollar Television, bringing back Whedon to make the TV series, which was produced by Fox TV and launched on the WB in 1997. Kuzui and Sandollar received executive producer credits on "Buffy" and its spinoff, "Angel."

The new "Buffy" film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike. Vertigo and Kuzui are looking to restart the story line without trampling on the beloved existing universe created by Whedon, putting the parties in a similar situation faced by Paramount, J.J. Abrams and his crew when relaunching "Star Trek."

One of the underlying ideas of "Buffy" allows Vertigo and Kuzui to do just that: that each generation has its own vampire slayer to protect it. The goal would be to make a darker, event-sized movie that would, of course, have franchise potential.

The parties are meeting with writers and hearing takes, and later will look for a home for the project. The producers do not rule out Whedon's involvement but have not yet reached out to him.Speaking from Tokyo, Fran Kuzui said the company is constantly approached not only about sequels but theater, video games and foreign remakes for "Buffy." When Vertigo's Lee contacted them, they were intrigued.

"It was Roy's interest in taking Buffy into a new place that grabbed us," she said, noting that original exec producer Sandy Gallin also was consulted. "It was based on our respect for what he does, and his particular sensitivity to Asian filmmakers, that we wanted to work with him."

Kuzui, who is prepping do direct a movie in Japan in the fall, added: "Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this."

Keep discussing the movie. 🙂

Well then. May I christian this thread?

*takes threads virginity*

Who will go see the film out of curiosity? Who should they cast as Buffy?

I'll see it out of curiosity, definitely. Depends on whether they set her back in high school again or what, but I've jumped on the Katee Sackhoff bandwagon.

I will definitely see it. And I will drag all my friends to see it with me. Hopefully it's more like the TV series than the first movie was.

As much as I absolutely, positively loathe the fact that there is even a slight possibility that this movie will be made, if Katee Sackhoff gets cast as Buffy, all of my dreams will come true.

I will definitely watch it at some point, but I'm not sure I'm gonna rush to the movies to see it. But sooner or later for sure. I'm way too curious not to.

I don't really understand what that means.... "every generation has its own vampire slayer"... does that mean they don't intend to use Buffy? That this will simply be a movie based on the universe created for the 1992 movie and have none of the same characters at all?

I could live with that. These movies could then be considered "expanded universe" stories. But I find it hard to believe they want to do a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie with no Buffy.

Kuzui, who is prepping do direct a movie in Japan in the fall, added: "Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this."

One might well argue that moment came in 1997... you know, when Joss launched a certain TV show based on that movie that kind of attracted some attention.

This movie's tagline should be "Hey, look, kids! A movie with vampires in it! Ka-ching!"

Wait. They are casting Starbuck as Buffy? Aw man...that's just plain playing dirty! Now I'll have to fecking watch it, even when I vowed I wouldn't. I somehow find that really evil lol I mean even Joss would be hard to resist the prospect of Sackhoff as Buffy!

I can't decide if this has made me even more pissed off or lessend the blow.

*hmph!*

No, I'm just saying that's who I WANT them to cast lol

Great point. So I'm confused...is it implied that this film will feature a new Slayer...before Buffy was chosen? Or what?

They started casting? So the movie is actually happening? I thought it was like a rumor.

Well, if everyone goes to see it, I guess it's going to be a hit.

Looks like we'll need some new graphics for the site.

Buffy was fun while she lasted.

Never said I would go to see...just said I'd watch it. Two very different things.

/me is confused

I think I might have just started a rumour by accident?

Was the Sackhoff thing a fan's wishful thinking or genuinely in contention?

Blah!

If Fox gets the role I'll scream. Sackhoff I could watch but Fox?

Hey FOOLS! Let me start this with a disclaimer <<<The following information has been informed to us from a relatively new source. If it turns out we were wrong we're sorry but it's too cool not to tell you. Believe it if you want.>>>

So this source we'll dub 'Daredevil' is involved in the industry and has heard some casting rumblings. There has been talk of a Buffy revamp in the works, hoping currently for a 2012 release, and the name being thrown around for the title role is Megan Fox. Now Fox is probably the most in demand female actor in the world at the moment and is currently attached to a million projects so you can all take it as you want but you have to admit she is sexy and can manage action scenes so she'd be a great choice and definately the sort of name the Buffy Fanboys would love to play the Vampire Slayer. I guess it all comes down to whether Fox wants to raid tombs, kill vampires, live under the sea or help the Autobots save the world again.

But the biggest piece of info 'Daredevil" dropped our way was the fact that the Commando remake that was rumoured last week is in fact happening. It is in early development and the man to fill Schwarzenegger's shoes... Dwayne Johnson! That's right The Rock himself. I've said for years that Johnson is the closest star to Schwarzenegger that has been produced in the last decade and this would be the role that shoots Johnson into the Action Blockbuster Superstar realm that I know he is capable of.

So what do you Fools think, is Megan Fox a good Buffy? Is Johnson the best choice for Commando? Tell me in the comments below.

Maybe they'll give the role to Jessica Alba, just to see how high they can raise the Buffy fans' blood pressure.

I was just answering Joan's question about who we wanted to play Buffy.

Holy crap! If Megan Fox gets the role I will NOT go see the movie. She is so crap and should not be cast in any of the huge films she's getting. Ugh.

LOL...dammit! Starbuck as Buffy lessens the blow.
I believe I was the one that suggested Katee would be a great Buffy🙂

Hehe.

I think we should start a 'Sackoff for the Slayer' campaign.

I mean you people realise that we have some power, right?
Its rare, but it happens, and this is one of them moments.

If the Buffy movie happens, and to be honest, I'm closer to believing it will then it won't, then the studios will want the mass market HOWEVER, they will want the fans of Buffy the show to get invested as well, they would be the ones that would at least make it commercially viable (the rest make it a smash success) AND they would be the ones that give the film the negative press online.

The Kuzui's will be aware of the harsh feelings from the main body of fans, and while they won't want to pander to every demand made, I am sure they would want to make some kind of gesture that would 'win us over' - that could be in the form of the inclusion of a specific character or an actor for the role.

IF what the fans wanted was something that would also benefit them, then I feel they would be even more open to suggestion.

So, why not push for one thing that would make the movie great...and my opinion for that would be Katee Sackoff.

You going to lead that campaign? lol

I could be like Gaius Baltar, I suppose!

---------- Post added at 09:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:07 PM ----------

Kean agrees: So you lead the campaign and then send the fandom head first into ruin? 😉

I meant season 4 Gaius, but I won't say much more because you haven't seen the end of the series!
