Don't think there is much concrete. At some point it will happen because they just can't seem to leave anything alone nowadays. If Josh was doing it with SMG then I would feel better about it. But even they have moved on I think. 

Though I do have my doubts about BtVs without Whedon's involvement, I don't think the movie would as bad as so many Buffy fans seem to think. Whedon has said on more then one occasion that the problems with the movie was not the Kuzuis but other people that we would not name, but I always thought he meant the cast that couldn't take the movie seriously. So, I think that they may do a better job with it then most people think, and would probably attract a good cast because of the success both financial and critical of the show.

No I think it was the studio he was speaking about. Always got that impression anyway. The casting was poor, but then at that point we didn't have the TV show to compare it with.

As for all this talk about how the film didn't impact the show? Well that was different because the film came first, and went down so badly that the TV show could only ever improve on it. In fact, since the show was so good it almost did away with the momery of the film. Not sure if I would go and see a reboot at the cinema. Certainly am very anti-the project right now.

I'm excited for this reboot. I feel Buffy is a story that can be applied to any generation, and if handled properly can be an amazing movie. The Sarah Michelle Gellar Era is over, the actors are all much older, I would love to see a new interpretation of the story...but it needs to have Joss though, that's what I feel is this reboot's biggest mistake.

Sarah and her crew arent old and they very well could be in a remake.

That's true, usually, but not always. The original "Star Trek" movies featured the original cast, and they were quite successful, even to the point of inspiring several new, and quite successful, series. The cast of "Buffy," or at least a substantial number of them, could be assembled to reprise their roles. The trick would be accepting the fact that they had, indeed, grown older during the time of "Chosen" and "Not Fade Away." Introducing new, younger, stars doesn't necessarily mean that the originals have to be relegated to mere cameos and walk on parts. People get older simply as a direct consequence of not dying young. The trick is to not hide the fact that they actually are younger. James has already said that he doesn't think that he could properly play an immortal vampire anymore, so, sadly, Spike, and probably Angel, wouldn't be in a new movie. That doesn't mean that one couldn't be made.
