Because the format of Buffy just works better in a episodic way more than it does in a standalone film. Not least now. If they did a Buffy film in 2004-5 on the back of the series then I think it could have been a big draw box office draw or solid at least.

I'm against anyone else playing Buffy now. I might watch a re-boot but its not something I want to see happen. If I had to pick it'd be someone like Emily Blunt (though she's actually doing pretty decent in films right now), or maybe someone unknown who has a lot of skills in terms of acting range and being able to look good psychically. Shelly Woodley might be a decent pick.

I was wondering you were saying her . I think she would make a good Buffy . The Divergent movies showed she a good action star so I think you made a good choice 😀

You can't cast a movie until you know what the role is. Just as the Buffy character was different in the movie versus the TV show, the next movie Buffy would be different as well. Until the role is written, casting is just a masturbatory exercise. Buffy could be Asian to really play into the dichotomy of the name versus the character. So until there is a script there is no point in trying to cast. And rest assured, when Buffy is rebooted it will be via a movie, and not a tv show.

Think you have to think too about who there is right now whose would be about the right age. I mean if you believe IMDB Woodley is actually in her mid-30s which surprises me, but she still has a fresh face and could probably pass for about 25?

I understand that, but I was asked by Chase Rules who I might cast so I was simply giving a answer based on a hypothetical.

If you're right then I think the film would likely flop. To me its a much easier sell on TV, not least because of how TV has taken off the past ten years. Think it would be perfect on Netflix.

I'd cast Abigail Breslin if it was a reboot. She might not be the obvious choice but she's shown her acting range, appearing in movies like My Sister's Keeper and Zombieland.

I agree if they were going for a Buffy reboot, it would be better as a tv series rather than a movie.

Except for Masters and DB because of the whole ageing thing with Vampires. And there maybe a issue with SMG too because it maybe stretch to believe that someone in their mid-late 30s would still be going strong as the Slayer. Chances are it would be recast anyway which I think is a shame.
