Johnny Depp Dark Shadows Project To Begin Production Finally

Johnny Depp is a busy man. There is news that Depp is moving forward with his Dark Shadows project with pal Tim Burton. The film has been talked about for years, but it has been met with delay after delay. However, there is news today of production start date being set! Yes, this one might actually be made next year. Production is set to begin in April 2011.


Depp and Burton have finally found the time to fit the Dark Shadows movie into their schedules. The film is based on the 1960s vampire soap opera, and Depp is set to take on the role of Barnabas Collins. Depp was instrumental in getting this film to be made. He is a known fan of the series that aired on ABC between 1966 through 1971.

It wasn't just a weekly series, but it was a soap opera with episodes airing daily during the week for that time. Fans of Depp have been anxiously waiting for this one, but the delays have pushed it back time and again.

It should be interesting to see if Depp can take on the role that was one of his own childhood favorites. It should also be interesting to see if this film actually moves forward with production in April. Fans have learned to not count on anything when it comes to this project. While I think this sounds really cool (Johnny Depp? Tim Burton? Dark Shadows? Yep), I'm just wondering if we're all eventually going to OD on vampire stuff LOL.

Tim Burton doesn't just do comedies. It should be very interesting.
