In light of the explosion of 'Ship discussion (and fighting), and as we have been phasing out the Social Groups, we have decided to add a few new forums on the board.

Within the 'Ships forum, you will now find two fan club forums, one for Bangel and one for Spuffy. These are fan zones so no going in there and flaming. Before anyone asks, these are the only two forums we are adding at this time. If it works out, we may add others in future. For now, the purpose is to prevent Bangel and Spuffy from overpowering the rest of the board and the Ship forum.

There is also a third forum there for all Ship battles. Please keep the ship wars in this forum, and clearly mark your thread titles such as "Fangel vs Sprusilla". There have been a lot of people taking things personally in threads recently about their Ships. If you can't accept the other side's right to have their opinion, or keep from taking things too personally, please stay out of this forum. You have been warned.

In a few minutes I will be posting sign up threads in the fan club forums. Also, the clubs will have the opportunity to rename themselves if they wish and to create the forum description. (Upon my final approval, of course 😉)

Wow, sounds great! I'm sure that people (myself included) will be very pleased with this new arrangement. 🙂

This is probably a very stupid question, but we're allowed to venture into "the enemy's corridor" as long as we're there just to be nice about the 'ship, correct? 😀

Edit: ...Another stupid question: Are we allowed to sign up for both? And, if so, are we allowed to leave one of the spuffy/bangel groups after a period of time?

So we can't have a "The pro vs cons of Spuffy" thread in this new Spuffy forum? We need to keep to the old forum for that?

Lol, I just thought of a way for there to be arguments in these new shipping boards, even with the best intentions. A thread named "The best Bangel moments" could seem very pro until peope start disagreeing which moment is the best, which might lead into a heated discussion. Not that that is likely to turn into a big thing, the thought just made me smile.

A Spuffy "Pro vs cons" thread could quickly turn into a mess with people arguing over Spike and Buffy's behaviour, even if every person in the discussion calls themself a Spuffy-fan.

I'm just not sure where the line is drawn between "healthy dicussion" and "flaming".

Of course people from the same 'shipping camp can and will, at times, disagree. The example you've given above would be a healthy discussion (providing that everyone kept in mind the Boards rules about posting; respecting one another and not resorting to personal attacks, etc). Disagreeing or debating the things you've mentioned above would not mean you were being Anti-Spuffy.

Flaming, would be as Buffy Summers has explained above, a member going into the 'opposite' 'ship making negative comments and causing arguments. These are 'safe havens' for members to enjoy discussing and sharing things from their favourite 'ship with their fellow 'shippers, without having to worry about it turning into a 'shipping war.

For example, if someone says "Spike could be a jerk sometimes, but Angel and Buffy were overall a worse couple" in the Spuffy board, that's cool, but if someone says it in the Bangel board, that's bad (or does that comment simply not belong anywhere but in the ship wars board)?

The sub-forum for both Bangel and Spuffy is, as I said above, a safe haven for the members of each 'ship. This means that you are free to say what you wish (again, within the posting guidelines) without having to worry about defending yourself or your opinions to members of the opposing 'ship.

So yes, using the example you've given above, you would be free to express that opinion in the Spuffy forum, but it would not be suitable for the Bangel forum.

Are these forums going to be exclusively for the members of the individual forums, or are they just areas where the particular ship can be discussed without "the other side" getting to post their two cents worth? For instance, if I as a Spuffy forum member, have a comment about a subject being discussed in the Bangel forum (like, "Buffy was attracted to Angel before she knew that he was a vampire, otherwise she would have dusted him the first time she laid eyes on him," and my comment would be, "Not necessarily, because she wasn't completely into her 'stake first and ask questions later'? phase until several episodes after she met Angel, so she had, by that time, pretty much decided that he wasn't evil.") that in no way compares Spike and Angel, would that be allowed
 
I have the same question as above? Is it going to be exclusive, like will only members of the certain ship be able to see the threads?
 
They are not technically exclusive. HOWEVER, it's for all the threads celebrating one of those ships, so I would caution people who don't agree with the ship to be careful about what they post and that they don't draw things into an argument.

For example WA if the comment you highlighted is in a thread where a debate is not intended or requested (such as "Evidence that Buffy and Angel were meant to be")...

Just please respect the intention of the forum.
 
I am Bangel and want to sign up, and I hope it is not too late. I don't know this forum very well yet. Quick question:Under what category can I find the fan clubs forum.
 
chatwuann, you'll find the Bangel sub-forum under Cast and Characters and then scroll down to Ships and it's in there, or you can find it here: Bangel Supporters Anonymous - Buffy-Boards - although it looks like you might have already found it and signed up! 😉

BuffyHead, if you are a fan of both 'ships you are free to post in both. Just be respectful in each! 🙂
