Hey everyone! I've decided to join BuffyBoards because I am a big fan of the Buffyverse! I actually didn't start watching Buffy and Angel until a good friend of mine reccommended them to me a year ago but I'm so glad I did because they are now two of my favorite shows! I look forward to talking about all things of the Buffyverse with everyone. Feel free to ask me things to get to know me as well as things pertainting to Buffy such as favorite characters, episodes and things like that! it may take me awhile to get comfortable posting on here because I can be shy but over time I think I will get used to it! Thanks for reading!

Hi! Welcome to the boards! I was really shy about posting at first too, but now I feel pretty comfortable posting my rants, creating new threads, etc. You'll gain confidence as you go along and familiarize yourself with this place 😀

Ok, some get to know you questions: favorite characters (Spike and Dru I gather), favorite seasons, least favorite seasons, favorite episodes, favorite ships (and least favorite ships), Buffy or Angel as a show?

Thank you for the encouragement and the questions! Let's see:

Favorite characters: Yep Spike and Dru are my top two favorites! My other favorites are Faith and Willow 🙂
Favorite Seasons: Season two and Season Five, great storylines and great characterization!
Least favorite seasons: probably season four and season seven, though there are great stuff in both of them.
Favorite episodes: "Fool for love" and "Innocence"; any Faith or willow centered episodes i also love.
Favorite ships: Spike and Dru are my favorite couple, as you can tell by my avatar! I wish they had stayed together. I also like spike and buffy at times. least favorite ship is probably anya and xander (i like both as characters and their relationship had its moments but its my least favorite)
I like Buffy better than Angel as a show but they are both great shows!
What about you? What are your answers for these questions?

Welcome to the boards!

Favorite characters: Spike is my favourite on Buffy and Wesley is my favourite on Angel (although Fred comes close).
Favorite Seasons: Season 3 on Buffy and Season 5 on Angel.
Least favorite seasons: Season 4 on Buffy and Season 4 on Angel
Favorite ships: All ships sink in the Whedonverse, so I like Spuffy but know it is doomed although it continues on in the comics. Weslah was my favourite on Angel.

Back when it was on television for the first time, the water cooler talk at work often thought the Angel episodes were better than the Buffy episodes but overall I prefer Buffy.

Nice! I love season three of Buffy as well. Season one and two of Angel are my favorites. I also like Wesley a lot!
Welcome to the boards! 🙂

Spike and Drusilla are my top two favourite characters too. They're just awesome 😀

That's awesome! good to meet another Spike and Drusilla fan. I'm glad im not the only one that likes them the best and when they were together 🙂

I wish they'd stayed together. Dru's vision of Spike and Buffy could've just been the event of Something Blue. I just love their dynamic in season 2, they might be soulless vampires but they do genuinely care for each other.

Yeah I wish they had stayed together too. I love how during that season Spike is tough and a Big Bad but he cares for Dru and is sweet to her. Dru may not have always been faithful to him because of Angelus and what not but her and Spike were together for 100 years and by the timeline of Season two the way she is towards him to me shows that she cares about Spike a lot. Maybe if she had listened to Spike and they had left Sunnydale after she got better and before Angelus came back they would have stayed together 😀 She really wanted to destroy the world though 😱

I think there are underlying reasons surrounding Dru sleeping with Angelus. Spike's reaction seems to support this. In season 2 he fully blames Angelus. When Dru was making out with the chaos demon, Spike held her accountable for that so I think there is more than meets the eye to the Angelus/Dru situation.

Also, as Spike was wheelchair bound I don't think he was in a position to leave Sunnydale at that point and unfortunately Angelus entered the picture before he recovered.

Yeah it does seems like that. What do you think those underlying reasons are?

And that's true. I guess only the writers could have written a way into the show for them to stay together. Though Spike could have left with her in "Crush" but he choose not to 😕

I find it interesting that after 100 years is when Dru wants to destroy the world but before that she was content with the mayhem her and Spike caused. Maybe it got old after while and she wanted to up the chaos, or they did try before but they weren't successful.

I think Angelus "trained" Dru to submit to him sexually. Dru often refers to Angelus and Darla as "Daddy" and "Grandmother (or some variation thereof)" respectively. Dru is often portrayed as being very child like in some aspects, and children tend to want to please their parental figures so Angelus is taking advantage of that by engaging in sex with Dru (plus he also does it to annoy Spike). In season 2, when Spike was wheelchair bound, Angelus was practically rubbing it in his face about what he was doing to Dru and that Spike couldn't do anything to stop it.

The writers needed Spike on the show so they could push forward with Spuffy. However, Spike either mentions Dru or she is seen (in flashback) in every season Spike is in which kind of seems like the writers don't want the audience to forget that Spike and Dru were together. At the very least, in my opinion, Spike hadn't fully let go of Dru because he keeps mentioning her.

There was a way Dru and Spike could've been on the show yet not actively trying to kill the scoobies (I'm using this reasoning for a season 4 AU fan fic I'm in the process of writing) and that is Spike and Dru come back to town for the gem of Amara (Spike's trying to make it up to her for his perceived "betrayal" in season 2) and Dru gets caught by the initiative and chipped. Spike would stick around to protect Dru since she wouldn't be able to protect herself because of the chip but he'd have to keep a relatively low profile so that neither he nor Dru get staked by Buffy. His and Dru's behaviour would still be modified by the chip but in a way that I think explores the relationship more eg is a vampire actually capable of love for another?

.

I think the whole Acathla thing was just Dru following Angelus' lead. As for the Judge, I think Spike and Dru were just looking for a bit of mayhem there. Spike admitted he doesn't want the world destroyed, but also it's not in a vampire's benefit to eradicate all human life, otherwise what are they going to eat.

I agree those are good points about Angelus and Dru. He is also her sire so that probably plays a factor in it as well in that she probably feels a strong connection towards him. Spike still means a lot to her but when Angelus is around she is more drawn to him.

And that makes sense I'm glad that Spike stayed on the show and at times I did enjoy the Spuffy moments but would much rather have Spike and Dru together than them. I noticed that too about her being mentioned and showing up in flashbacks. Like when Giles was trying to get Spike to figure out his trigger in "Lies my parents told me" he didn't just remember his memories with his mother that affected him but him and Dru first being together and seeing his house. That to me shows how important his relationship with her was to him.

That sounds like a really good idea for a fan fic. Are you going to post it on here when you finish it? I would really like to read that. 🙂

Yeah, I don't think Angelus or Dru thought about that beforehand, but Angelus and Dru seem to like the suffering and mayhem than just feeding and action like Spike.
