I think it's all pretty good news (despite the horrible new lead-in). More focus on the thriller, conspiracy aspect, fewer standalones hopefully. And a tighter budget might actually make the show better, more interesting in a way.

It'd be nice to compare BtVS's per ep budget with DH's. Surely one would not have to re-adjust too much for inflation over the past 10-12 years. Buffy probably had a smallish budget and Mutant Enemy did a bang-up job, IMNSHO.

Interesting that FOX has changed its position on the standalone episodes. It's almost like they've figured out how Joss shows are supposed to work.
