New Moon Rising

Does anyone get kind of mad at Oz for returning in New Moon Rising? I'm not saying I hate Oz after he leaves. I'm like grr, you come back now? Why?? haha.

And Buffy telling Riley that not everything is black & white. That some creatures(demons,werewolves, vampires are actually good). By the end of the episode, Riley believes that it's not all black & white when comes to demons,werewolves,vampires and etc.

Opinions?

I loved that by the end of the ep, Riley see's things the way that Buffy does. And tries to get Oz out of the initiative.

And Willow coming out to Buffy.

Which was huge for Willow.

No I loved Oz coming back. I was pissed at how the episode ended with Oz leaving again. I was really happy with the development in Riley though... It's always nice to see a character who's narrow minded open up a little.

I would have liked it more if Oz didn't leave again at the end of the episode too. Even if Oz would become a reoccurring role. It would have been nice.

It was nice to see Riley become a little more open minded. It always makes me smile.🙂

I didn't mind Oz coming back, since he left things so unsettled it sorta tied everything with his story up. I did think it was pretty naive of him to believe/hope that Willow would have waited for him rather than moving on. I do agree with you [MENTION=10728]Abbeycat[/MENTION], it would have been nice if Oz stuck around a little after this; I bet Oz would have grown to like and approve of Tara.

I loved the way Riley was able to accept new truths about the world. Being able to challenge his beliefs and see things in a new light really showed he had a good head on his shoulders.

I didn't really like Oz coming back, but I'm glad he did 'cause then Willow was finally able to choose Tara over Oz. 😀 Plus, I love when Willow comes out to Buffy, and of course more Tillow loving at the end. ::heart::

Oz wasn't being rude. What was he supposed to do? Go work out his issues and get a cure and NOT come back to Sunnydale and at least, try to unite with the person he loved on a chance that she wouldn't want to? Why should he deny himself happiness and for that matter, Willow happiness if she didn't happen to be seeing Tara.

He overreacted by getting so emotional that he turned into a werewolf and he acted resentful in the van at the end but for the most part, he tried doing this gracefully. He stressed that he didn't want to push and asked Xander if she had a boyfriend and immediately backed off when she didn't want to have sex and tried his best to leave on a good note. Flawed guy but very human and amazing guy.

And he scolds himself for believing that at the end of the episode with some self-hatred in SG's voice. Frankly, I think he's a little hard on himself. He *did* ask Xander if she had a boyfriend. I wouldn't have expected him to consider girlfriends as well and to immediately intuit that Xander is more out of the loop on what's going on with Willow than he's ever been because the Scoobies are having their S4 rift.

Plus, Willow and Oz really were in love. By New Moon Rising, Oz wasn't thinking in terms of another girl. Once Veruca was out of his system, all he wanted in his world travels was to come back to Willow. Why wouldn't he think Willow felt the same way? And Willow *was* totally destroyed when he left and never actively thought in terms of falling in love with someone else. It took hand-holdy instant magical kismet soul-matey connection built over starting off as friends with falling in love just sneaking up on Willow to get Willow to move on to Tara. Emphatically not going to mixers or Lesbian Alliances to find another boyfriend/girlfriend.

Why is it so wrong that he believed that the girl who reacted the way she did when he left might still be so messed up from their breakup that she would be single? You have to admit, Willow was deeply scarred when Oz left. She was emotionally wrecked, to the point where she couldn't control her magic (nice foreshadowing, Joss and Co.). Oz and Willow were each others' first love... I know a lot of people who are shaken to the core when their first love moves on to someone else, which is why it makes sense to me that Oz was so shocked and emotional over the fact that not only had Willow moved on, she moved on to a woman (which he never saw coming).

I was not upset at all that Oz came back. In fact, I would have preferred it if he'd stayed for a while, and we saw Willow have some kind of inner turmoil over choosing between Oz and Tara. Willow seemed to move onto Tara far too fast for my liking, and I think I would have found their relationship more believable in the initial stages if we'd seen more of the 'torn' aspect. I found it really hard to buy Willow getting over Oz that quickly; When you think about it, Oz was only gone 3 episodes, and then she was onto Tara. It bothered me. It still bothers me. Getting over a 3 year relationship that quickly? Just no. And I highly doubt it would have been hard to get Seth Green to stick around and guest on at least a few more eps if only to flesh out the storyline.

Willow and Tara started as friends in Hush with a potent, stunning magical connection that no one saw coming. It's not clear when the relationship clearly turned romantic but I bet that it was This Year's Girl/Who Are You? IMO, it took everything- the Scoobies' rift, the magical connection, how much Willow loved Tara, how sudden and traumatizing Oz's break was- to get her to move on so fast.

And New Moon Rising indicates that Willow was conflicted and didn't know who to pick (even if she was leaning towards Tara) until Oz wolfed out. As much as I adore Oz (more than Tara), Willow was completely right when she said that she can't live like this. I get putting up your boyfriend becoming a werewolf during very specific full moon nights but not wolfing out the middle of the day because he's furious and jealous.

It was very gross that Tara believed that she's a dangerous demon in her own right and never came clean and just watched as Willow rejects her first love, in large part, because he was dangerous. She's so phony!
