There is a new Munsters in the works. It will be directed by Rob Zombie.

I do not want a new Munsters; that being said, I think I'd have to watch a new Munsters from Rob Zombie. No idea what that will look like.

What say you?

I suppose if you are going to make a Boomer pop culture revival, you really only have a decade left until you get Lone Ranger'd.
 
Did anyone see that Munster reboot pilot from like 10 yeas ago? Kinda liked it.
 
I'll be morbidly curious what Rob Zombie would do with it.

Though I like his music (and vids), I'm pretty meh about his movies (and I think he has a fun vibe, though I prefer it in small doses), but think this has the potential to be cheestastic fun (I'll brace myself if it's rated R, but could still be fun).

I'm more optimistic about it than the vast majority of remakes, though that's a low bar (practically buried underground) to rise above.
 
I didn't really grow up on the Munsters, it's a very American concept, perhaps due to its age, so what I know of the show is mostly pop culture history. That being said, the idea of Rob Zombie being behind it is intriguing enough for me to maybe check it out.
 
Well, his Halloween remake was pretty good - as long as you took it as a standalone movie and not really a remake or part of what came before. I expect this might be the same. Though I really don't feel like the Munsters needs remade at all...I still watch the original now.
 
Apparently everything and anything can be re-made or re-booted; except Friends and Gilmore Girls. Murder She Wrote even escaped that for now. Perhaps the fan base wasn’t open to the idea. If everything is Re-made or re-booted what is Hollywood going to do then? Re-Make and Re-boot everything again? I will watch the original Minsters if I want to watch it. I think the younger generation is spurring this on. They seem to think the classic stuff is too old fashioned to watch.

I doubt it. I think there is an expectation of safety for the careers of the producers because the ad campaign becomes simple and if it fails, it doesn't really count against the people who undertook to do it. I don't see any demographic clamouring for remakes or reboots - all the pressure to do this seems to be coming from the supply side, not the demand side. Do millenials really want to watch the Munsters? I doubt they are even interested in an updated version.
 
Remaking the Munsters is a once a decade exercise, and it's been almost ten years since Mockingbird Lane. I agree, I question the appeal of the property to people who didn't watch the original run or the syndicated reruns. So, it sounds like a pet project, which is fine, it's not like Tim Burton should have all the fun.
 
The Munsters being me-imagined by Rob Zombie seems akin to The Waltons being re-made by Micheal Bay, like a completely different aesthetic to what came before.
The Musters was creaky and cheesy and a bit kitsch. Rob Zombie is...not those.

Still, we can look forward to Sherry Moon in at least one of the roles, that's a guarantee.
