New Possible Avatar System - Please register your opinion

Should only one person be allowed to have a certain avatar at a time?

We can make it so that each person on the boards has to have a unique avatar - meaning that when one person chooses an avatar from the list, no one else can have that same avatar (until that person changes to something else).

Before we did this, we wanted to get your input on whether this is a good idea or not.

Oh,well,hmm,okay.I think that would be okay😀.
But what if someone else is using the PA avy I'm using,should they change it or should I?

Well, I will have to look. I would think that either you both keep it and no one else can select it, or the person who had it first would keep it. You wouldn't have to change it yourself either way.

I think it would be good idea. Personally I actually recognise people from their avs and it's also nice to know that no-one else is going to have the same avatar as you, and that it's unique to yourself. We have signatures that make us individuals and stand out, and to have a unique avatar than you know no-one else is going to use until you change it is another way to make members stand out as their individual perosnalities. 😀
 
I think this is a good idea, but in that case you should have more avatars, since the popular ones will be used up fast. Also, what about lurkers? should someone who doesn't post at all still get an avatar that lots of people want, if they aren't going to use it? just a thought...
 
Good thought as well eset.

Anyway, maybe im seeing the evil in people but think some people might say "I have the avatar you want, do this this and this for me and I'll give it you" but then again I dont think anyone here is that evil.

I'm indifferent, don't mind if it happens don't mind if it does. Don't think anyone has the one I have so im five by five.
 
I think its a good idea as well cause i also usually Remember people by there avatar untill they change it that is then we have to re-remember there avatar lol but its also good that we each can have our own unique stuff 🙂
 
I think it's a good idea. I know I often see an avatar and relate that avatar to someone...so when someone else selects that avatar I'm usually like..."Hey...wait a minute." And there are so many avatars to choose from...I'm sure everyone will still be able to find one that they like.

There is probably a variable in the system that saves the date and time when you last changed your avatar...

We have over approximately 2100 avatars at the moment. We are always adding more (Like the 80 or so I just added.) No, we are not going to add the Roswell avatars just so that there are more. 😀

As for lurkers, I would expect to clear out ones for people who haven't been around for a certain period of time.

If you want an avatar that bad...if someone does that report them and we'll take it away from them.
 
I went with yes, as when 2 people have the same AV, at quick glance you could get them confused with the other person. An AV defines you.
 
I think its a good idea. Because I remember people from their avatars for the most part. And if someone has the same avatar then that will just throw me. :shrug:
But if you do descide to go with I think more avatars are needed *cough*fred&wesley(season five)*cough*Illiyria*cough* :tongue05: :vpleased:

I'm just speaking out for the good of the Duck Duck Goose thread. I don't think this is a good idea. What if you want to change your Avy with your mood? I sometimes do. People know me by my name and my posts, not my avy.

P.S. If this goes through can you tell me if my Avy is taken by anyone else????
 
I have no way to know who uses what avatar. You can still change your av whenever you want to.

It seems to me that most people use unique ones anyhow.

I just added some Illyria. And Fred & Wesley. Like two days ago.
 
s'fine by me, but in the ddg thread we do goose on av's and banners. and i do get attached to the avs and it ....does sorta get me confused when there's two of the same avs in the same thread but...eh...whatever way you decide to go, it'll work out fine.
 
I'm ambivalent to this one Buffy - I can see the arguments for both sides but, being all modly, I have my own custom avatar so it's not an issue for me 🙂 I think, if I were forced to choose, I'd go for the unique av argument...
 
I guess it's a good idea..I'm just scared that while I'm online someone else will get a hold of this av and I'm REALLY attached to it
