We've added a new discussion group to the board, this one specifically for the Season 8 comics. We'll discuss a different issue each week, giving everyone a chance to catch up with the comics. We'll start with the first issue on May 30, so you all have until next Monday to reread it.

An Angel one would be great! I've wanted to read the Angel comics, but 1. I can't follow in which order they go in. And 2. I don't know where to find them and haven't heard much about them so I don't know if they're worth it... But if I was reading them with a bunch of people, the first one wouldn't be a problem and the second one would be less of one because people could tell me
 
Hey everybody, I was talking to Darla about something and she suggest I bring it up here: is everybody interested in a more accelerated season 8 re-read, in order to finish before season 9 begins in September? Or if some people are interesting in that, and some are interested in a one issue per week discussion, I supposed we could have 2 discussion groups.

Anyway, there are 14 weeks until the beginning of September (if anybody knows a more exact release date, please let me know- it might give us a few extra weeks, but I couldn't find anything). Season 8 has been published in 8 trade paperbacks, although we could separate out a few things to drag it out a little bit.

So, the schedule would look something like this:
May 30- The Long Way Home, I-IV (issues 1-4)
June 6- The Chain (is. 5)
June 13- No Future For You I-IV (is. 6-9)
June 20- Anywhere But Here + A Beautiful Sunset (is. 10-11)
June 27- Wolves at the Gate I-IV (is. 12-15)
July 4- Time of Your Life I-IV + After These Messages (is. 16-20)
July 11- Harmonic Divergence and Swell (is. 21-22)
July 18- Predators and Prey, Safe, & Living Doll (is. 23-25) + Short stories "Harmony Bites" and "Vampy Cat Play Friend" from MySpace Dark Horse Presents! (contained within the P&P TPB)
July 25- Retreat I-V (issues 26-30) + Short stories "Always Darkest" and "Harmony Comes To The Nation" from MySpace Dark Horse Presents! (contained within the Retreat TRP)
August 1- Willow one-shot
August 8- Turbulence (is. 31)
August 15- Twilight I-IV (issues 32-35)
August 22- Riley one-shot
August 29- Last Gleaming I-V (issues 36-40)

What do you guys think of this? Too much, too fast? I know there's some off weeks with only one issue to read, but I tried to group within arcs & themes. And I figured that the one-shots deserved their own week. Oh, and I put the one-shots in the time frame in which they were released, not where they're at in the TPBs.
 
I don't know if I'll be able to keep up if we're reading so many issues a week, but I'll try. I don't have a whole lot of time for leisure reading, but I do want to try to read the comics.

Dark Horse does have some pages per issue available for preview on their website. Is that what you mean?

I know, it is a lot of reading. It's almost like we should've started this a long time ago LOL! I had already planned on doing a re-read this summer to get ready for season 9, but then again I'll be on summer break. Also since I've already read them, I anticipate they will be quicker reads. Like I said, we could have 2 separate groups going, or not do an accelerated re-read at all if that's what the group chooses. 🙂
 
That works great for me. It would give me an excuse to buy the trade volumes I don't have (there are like 2 of them) and it would be faster so I'd be less likely to forget.
 
I'm excited about this. I love S8 and it'll be a good thing rereading it before S9. 🙂

Last Gleaming comes out on June 1st. I'm finding the TPBs for good prices on Amazon- not sold by Amazon itself, but usually other sellers, sometimes used but still in great condition. My public library also had them.

And I can be ready on Monday.
 
Well I won't have the time for that kind of intense reading but I'll chime in every now and then 🙂
 
I'd love to do this. It'll give me an excuse to finish the latter third of the season and maybe if I'm caught up I'll actually read Season 9 as it comes out! I won't be able to get at my comics for Monday, but I've read The Long Way Home a few times, so I'll see if I can join in anyway and catch up properly for next week. I'm fine for the accelerated run too, now I'm done with uni and exams.
 
I finished TLWH this morning, and I took notes! (God, I'm such a geek!!) LOL, can't wait for the discussion!

I also just re-read Fray. Even though we don't have time for an official Fray discussion, I highly recommend reading it as background since there are aspects in there that season 8 refers/alludes to.
