I checked the description for "Art Class" and it said only buffy/angel stuff so I figured I'd post it here.

I'm a film major and I graduate in January. I don't have the best equipment obviously, but I still want to practice as much as possible. This is a short film I made last night. I love horror films, but the older ones from like the 70s n 80s are my favorite. So, the short films like these are easier to do because I don't need CGI. This shares a similar plot to chucky. I know there's a few jump cuts (where the cuts don't match up to the original) but oh well. lol Also, I know the ending stinks but we forgot the prop was made out of glass and it broke, so I had to think of an ending off the top of my head.

Lemme know what you think. Constructive criticism/thoughts/etc.

PS: the actress curses twice in it, but it's still very much a G video. lol just thought i'd throw it out there since this is a family board. lol

First of all, I didn't watch all of the film, just about half of it, but this is the things I thought of:

If you made this in only one night I'm really impressed! I have studied and edited film myself, and I know how much time and effort the editing as well as the recording process takes. Just shooting everything in different angles takes a lot more time than people realise.

I won't comment on the quality of the equipment, 'cause like you said, you don't have the right one yet, so I understand why it isn't the best. I do feel that the quality could have improved a bit by better use of light though, like highlighting people and places in the room. Did you use any extra, or was it just regular lights?

The camera work you (?) did was good, not a lot of shakyness and stuff like that. I also like the editing, good use of angles. But it was a bit jerky sometimes, like in 1.28 where you could see the girl moving foward a bit. I would've rather cut around that and shown another image if it was the sound you needed. That would have made it more seemless.

A thing that took away some of the good from the movie was the acting. I didn't think it was that good. I did see that the people who played the parts had a lot of entusiasm and seemed to like to be in the movie, so I give them props for that. But if the story is going to be believable the lines should be delivered with more feeling imo.

Keep up the good work! I love to see more of your stuff and how you evolve!

Edit: I just saw that you yourself had allready mentioned the jump cuts, so sorry for bringing that up. 🙂
