End Of Buffy

Hi All

When Buffy Sacrificed herself at the end of season 5, how come no other slayer was called?? Like what happened when she died at the hands of the master.

Soulless Spike

Because she had allready died, she had allready used her ability to pass on the power!

When Buffy died in season 1, it was Kendra and after the murder of Kendra, it was Faith.
So now, the "real" Slayer is Faith because Buffy died....But we all know what happened...

I don't know... I know that if a slayer dies, then one is called... but now that Buffy is clearly alive, it seems that the council should've done something to fix it a long time ago, and that would've fixed everything with the two slayers and power.

So, I still believe that Buffy is the "real" slayer.

Well, I think a real Slayer should be one that has not killed innocent human lives and conspired with evil to commit horrible sins on the goodness of the human race....

so, my statement still stands that Buffy is still the real slayer.
Giles told her in "Grave" she was brought back to Earth because of her calling, what she is supposed to be: THE SLAYER

There is an interesting theory making the rounds that suggests that Buffy has been re-inserted into the Slayer line as the newest Slayer. Presumably this would have occured during her resurection in S6 ep1.

The theory has something to do with something Beljoxa's Eye said, and also has to do with The First's stated intent to kill Buffy last. It makes perfect sense that you'd want to kill the 'active' slayer last, since killing her sooner would spawn a new slayer you'd have to deal with. Better to eliminate all the SIT's first.

The First intends to kill Buffy last, and Faith second last. In my mind that either implies that The First feels Buffy is a weakness to her own cause (and hence wants to keep her around longer) or that The First is afraid killing Buffy sooner might activate a SIT. A third possiblity is that The First simply wants to gloat over Buffy at the end of it all; sweet revenge for Buffy having foiled it's plans in season 3.

My guess is that we'll never know the truth of that theory before the show is done, but it's interesting to speculate I suppose. I don't really have an opinion on it.

That is an interesting theory! It would explain a bit.

However I think the way the Beljoxa's Eye put it was that The First will kill the potentials first, then Faith, then Buffy. Doesn't that indicate that Faith is the real threat, rather than Buffy? Killing her AFTER the potentials means no one can be called, and BUffy's the left over last slayer.

Either way, they have to bring back Faith!

Joss was asked this in an interview and he said something like, Slayers are like batteries, u use them and then they run out of energy so u have to put a new battery in, so Buffys first death was able to activate Kendra, whose death activated Faith and when Buffy died agian it didnt call a new slayer because she already used her calling card and each Slayer only has one and Buffys being brought back from the dead the second time probably wouldnt affect having a new slayer coming if BUffy died cause buffy was dead for quiet awhile and it doesnt take that long to call upon a new slayer, so the slayer line runs through Faith now, her death will activate the new slayer, Buffy could die 100 times and come back and there still wouldnt be another Slayer taking her place

^^^ I completely agree. Buffy is no longer the slayer. Faith is the current one. Buffy dying won't call a new slayer. Only Faith's death will do that.

yea that makes sense... the second time she died another slayer wasn't activated cause it'd already happened before...

always,
kim

Possible UK spoiler question:

Of course, technically, any slayer (except Buffy) that dies now should activate a new one, wouldn't it?

Yes. The slayer activation power now belongs
to Faith. Only in the event of her death would
another slayer be called. I don't think the Powers
That Be ever figured that a fallen slayer would be
resurrected. So they wouldn't have installed a
back-up slayer activation. I mean usually dead means
dead. Ecspecially after 3 months!

'Kay that's just my two-cents 🙂

Both Buffy and Faith are the "real" slayer, even before Chosen. They were both called. A new slayer wasn't called when Buffy died, not because Faith was the "real" slayer but because since Buffy died the first time, she has not been at the end of the slayer line. First Kendra was, and now Faith. Buffy is still the slayer and so is Faith. There actions have nothing to do with who is the "real" slayer because the coucil doesn't really pick who the slayer is. Isn't it pre-ordained?

ok yeah....that was kinda wordy, but did it make any sense?

excellent point. That makes sense and then we can all be happy in having our favorite slayer be "The Chosen One" Yippie.

And it's also kinda pointless now, because there are like a billion new slayers now... so it's moot. But personally, I still like the original: Buff

yes, Faith and Buffy are both "real" slayers just now only faith's death has the power to call a new slayer because buffy has already called one.
yeah, now that all of the potentail slayers are actual slayers if any one of them dies what will happen? Becuase all of the slayers have already been called so will nothing happen?
Also what if a potenial slayer is born after the spell in "choson" was performed? What happens to them? Do they become a slayer when they're born or do they wait until they're atually called?

I think, dealing with all the potentials... that it was only the present potentials at the time of the spell are the ones who will become the slayers. So, then the question is... when any one of those potential-now-slayers would die, will another girl be called to take her place?

Now the whole freakin line is messed up.

No i dont think so because at the end of chosen

Ever Potential becomes a slayer so there all slayers and no more calling.

I don't know. If I were Joss, I'd make it so that all current potentials were called. That way, there are only (pretend) "300". So, there will always now be "300" slayers. So when one dies, a child who was born post-spell will only be called then.
