New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

Now, I'm not that excited about this movie, but I think, unlike the last three, this actually feels like Star Wars.

Yeah, I watched the show thing online. I was surprised by some of it... then when they showed the trailer.. I was hooked. This movie will destroy the box office. If Furious 7 can get nearly a billion dollars worldwide in two weeks, this movie would have to do more than that.

Even now this looks like being miiiiiiiiles better then the previous 3 Star Wars movies. I have a few friends who worked on this and I'm pleased that they've gone for a large amount of physical makes rather then make the whole thing look like a bland CGI fest that the last lot ended up being.

Trailer doesn't look that good IMO. One of the reasons I am not a Star Wars trailer is because of how pretenious some of the talking bits are, and this trailer plays into that. Visually it does look good though. Its a decent director and as someone who isn't a fan I guess this can already be an improvement on what has come before.

I liked the trailer. While I'm not a huge Star Wars fan and I kind of like the prequels, just cause its the movies that I grew up on and saw in theatre. But I am excited to see the new one. I'll have to go back and watch the original trilogy before though, cause I only vaguely remember them

I agree. The prequels were too CGI, that was one of their problems, and not enough practical effects. I hate when movies rely on a lot of CGI. It takes me out of the movie a bit. I prefer practical effects and miniaturization. But I think it's like cheaper to do CGI now or just easier, idk.

You really don't! Seeing them once in a life time is enough😀 Besides the storytelling is so bad you would be none the wiser😉 Watch the Empire Strikes Back and leave the rest is my advice.

Hahaha. I just said I like Star Wars! Just because I'm not a super nerd about it doesn't mean I can't like it. lol. You're just bitter because you don't like Stars Wars and aren't as cool as we are 😛. lol

A lot of that, I think, is going back to the actual roots of the entire "Star Wars" franchise. Lucas always said that he was inspired by the old pulp magazine stories of the 20's and 30's, and even earlier work, such as Burroughs' John Carter, Raymond's Flash Gordon, and others of their type. That's the way that they talked, and that's the way that their action was depicted, with flashing swords, ray guns blazing bolts of energy, and with men and women constantly doing things that were not really humanly possible. That's the real charm of "Star Wars,: and what makes it different from things like "Star Trek," and "Battlestar Galactica," and why it is intentionally, "long, long ago," rather than centuries in the future.

But the thing is I don't like that about Star Trek either. I don't mind Sci-Fi having intelligent storylines, or being heavy on dialouge as long as it justifiys it, but SW doesn't. Those scenes are just so plodding, and when you listen to what they are actually saying, it doesn't add to the plot that much. Those scenes could easily be shorter. Also, Star Wars as I understand it is supposed to be blockbuster entertainment, and I like my blockbuster entertainment fast, with sharp dialouge and good visuals, on that front SW doesn't deliver enough.
