Question: In the rules of the art battle/challenges it says

In each round, the artists will present 3 rules for the piece. Each artist should wait until the competition's piece has been posted before starting theirs for the round

Does this mean we can only present three rules for each piece? Or at least three using judgement not not make it too much? I ask because I've found 4 to be a good number too... and I've seen some that are 5.

I don't really care how many - whatever makes sense for this sort of thing. Let's just pick a number and go with it.

I got this PM, and I thought it would be best to answer it here, since other people will probably have the same questions:

Yes we do. This is to keep battles from overrunning the board so people don't forget the real purpose of the board: to talk about BtVS, Angel, and other Whedonverse shows.

I could never go to another person and challenge them by pm? I have to be assigned by a mod to another person randomly? What if I want to, let's say, do a battle with one member (not necessarily at my art level) can I tell you or you will assign me another person no matter what?

You could PM a mod and say "So-and-so and myself would like to do a banner battle". It's totally up to you and the person involved, but I did think it might be best if we paired people up by skill, so that someone who's just starting out isn't paired with someone who's been arting for a long time.

And also...why just three rules for a banner piece? It raised my curiosity, sorry...I just don't understand why there has to be a limit..I mean, no one ever does 20 rules for a piece so I was just wondering.

I chose 3 rules per piece to keep the art from being so restrictive. The purpose of art is to be creative, and when you get someone giving 5 different stipulations, some of those being very specific, such as what color text you can use, etc. it doesn't so much feel like you're being creative as much as being assigned something. And no one likes to feel like creating art is a job rather than something done for fun.
If you guys would like to bump the number up, I'd say we need to have no more than 4 rules per piece.

I think you have done an awesome job HisMrs with all the rules that you have put in place, and I think 4 rules per piece would be a perfect amount 🙂

If it's okay, can I make a suggestion? For the Battles and/or Challenges could it be made for like Beginners/Intermediate's/Expert's?

(Ex. A art challenge (like wallpaper or banner) for beginners only
one for only Intermediate's

That would be ok with me... After the current challenge we can take that into consideration and possibly do challenges in the future that are geared more toward a certain group within our fanart community.

Going forward, you do not need to pm a moderator in order to start a banner or wallpaper battle unless you need to be matched up with another member. Only 3 battles per person at one time however.
