Apparently not. Whether it's a female Thor, a female James Bond, a female "new most powerful character in the MCU," a team of female Ghostbusters, or any other such SJW crap, they just keep beating that same dead horse, hoping that it'll someday rise up and win the Kentucky Derby.

Jane actually does assume both the mantle and the name of Thor,

Obviously, she's the star, but her character's name is Jane Foster. Calling her Thor in this movie makes about as much sense as Sam Wilson changing his name to Steve Rogers, just because he is supposed to be the new Captain America. Just because the producers decide to do it doesn't make any sense, in my opinion, except for the apparent "three movie rule" that the MCU has set for all of their characters. Hemsworth has had his three, so the only way that they can have another Thor movie is if it's another character altogether. Likewise, having the original actor change his name to "Odinson" might give him another trilogy.

You made the mistake of thinking that Marvel movies were supposed to make sense. They don't really care if it makes sense, within the confines of the narrative, or not; only if it makes dollars.

Portman was always considered one of the weaker parts of the Thor movies so now they're pushing her front and centre? The reason Thor: TDW is considered the least best of the Thor movies is because of her increased role in it (plus the increased screen time of the sidekicks), why would they think people would rush out to see her?

People want to see Thor and Loki, not Jane Foster.

Natalie Portman has always been one of the great actors out there, for me, but even I was disappointed in the character of Jane Foster. However, knowing how talented she can be when given the right material, I'm crossing my fingers that she'll at least make it an entertaining/enjoyable film if nothing else. Who is directing and writing?

Everyone is saying how silly it is to have Portman as Thor, I can't wait to see how much money the film makes in its first weekend of release.
