So we have had the Christmas threads and Christmas itself.... now onto New Years Eve.

Do you celebrate it?
How do you celebrate it?
What are you doing this year?
How do you spend New Years day?

I do celebrate it as I see it as a fresh start somehow. Out with the old and all that jazz. I used to party hard pre Abbs, but now I have Abbs I'm at home with anyone that wants to join me. Normally my friends and Abbs dad come round to see in the New Year. This year at the moment I don't know who is coming round yet.
New years day this year should be interesting as my parents are over from Spain and hate Abbs dad and he will be here too...lol...can't wait!!

I'm definitely staying home this year...it'll be a night of sci-fi marathons and chinese food. 😀 So much better than getting drunk at a club and waking up with a stranger. 😛

The family doesn't really do anything. Every few years my grandpa will make some fancy version of kraut & pork, but other than that, nada. I might go to party the nite before. I have to work all day on Sunday, so that might put a damper on the celebration. 🙁

I used to religiously go out on NYE, however the older I got, the more I realised just how much money I'd waste on NYE. There was the outfit & shoes, then the meal out somewhere, then paying to get into a pub (the only night of the year you pay to get into a pub!), then the inflated cost of drinks all night, then the extortionate taxi ride home..... you could be £300 down easy peasy. It's just not worth it for one night out. So nowadays I tend to just stay in, enjoy a movie or two, glass of wine and it's actually substantially cheaper to buy a bottle of wine and a takeaway! 😀

Don't really 'Celebrate' it as such (I've seen far too many new years & they seem to be coming around faster & faster 😕 )

We tend to just go down to the local pub to have a quiet beer with all the regulars (No paying to get in a pub on NYE when you live out in the sticks)

Then at Midnight it's hugs (& manly handshakes) all round, then we wander home to see how pi**ed Jools Holland is on the telly 😀

Yer I'm in the sticks too but not as bad as you are I guess!! We have 2 pubs open and one is charging £70 to get in with nothing free. The other pub.... well that's free entry so I guess that one will be heaving lol.

Oh yes, I forgot the obligatory annual watch of Jools Holland's Hootenanny! 😀

I remember Jool's from some thirty years ago, he never used to be drunk on screen. It was when he spoke that he sound like a drippy drunk. He always knew how to dress real snappy, just like he was pissed though.
Here's another way to look at this, in New York you are thirteen hours behind me and London is eight hours behind so there arte times when it is New Years day here but not there and at other times when it is New Years day there it is the second of January here.

Doesn't anybody celebrate New Year any more? lol
Well, I haven't either for the last few years.

Will probably just stay at home and treat it like any other Saturday.

/SK

Hogmanay is a big deal here. So much so that the 2nd is a national holiday. I can't be bothered with going out though, so a wee celebration at home will do me.

Umm what?
was that that Hogmanay was the 2nd holiday or you've seen a 2nd holiday, maybe you meant that every 2nd year is a national holiday.
Is it true you have a celebration for a wee at home?

I realised that whenever I read your posts I hear the X-Files theme. :P

Eve: I won't tell you any of my plans.😀

My preference is to get together with friends, eat some yummy food, watch movies, talk, hug at midnight, shoot off some fireworks and go to bed happy.

That doesn't look like it's happening this year, so probably some yummy food, netflix and chatting online with friends

Well, that's an interesting turn out for the books. My parents have cancelled due to *cough* ill health *cough* and Abbs dad is coming round tomorrow but I still don't know about friends yet.

You say it is an interesting turn out for the books but you don't say which books, are the books all of the same title?
